This study investigates the relationship between learning motivation and academic performance among Chinese tourism university students and analyzed the mediating roles of psychological resilience and academic self-efficacy. By examining the interrelationships among these four variables, the study aims to offer actionable strategies to support university tourism students in enhancing their academic performance. The study surveyed 568 tourism students from six universities in Jilin Province, with data analyzed using SPSS 25.0. The analyses included descriptive statistics, correlation, regression, and mediation effect analyses. The findings of this study are as follows: First, learning motivation is positively associated with academic performance. Second, learning motivation is positively linked to psychological resilience. Third, learning motivation is positively related to academic self-efficacy. Fourth, psychological resilience is positively associated with academic performance. Fifth, academic self-efficacy is positively linked to academic performance. Sixth, psychological resilience mediates the relationship between learning motivation and academic performance. Seventh, academic self-efficacy mediates the relationship between learning motivation and academic performance. These findings provide actionable insights for fostering student learning motivation, which directly and indirectly enhances academic performance through psychological resilience and academic self-efficacy.
