I. The Purposes of this study are to find the relationship between organizational climates of schools and job satisfaction of teachers.
Detailed statements of the objectives of the study are as followings.
1. Is there any relationship between organizational climates of schools and job satisfaction of teachers?
2. Are the job satisfaction levels of teachers different, according to the school characters (Public or Private), they are serving and their sex, age and positions?
II. Procedure of study
1. The subjects
The subjects are 514 school teachers from 22 schools(including elementary schools and middle schools and high schools)
2. Instruments used.
a. Organizational Climate Description Questionaire.
In order to find out how teachers perceive their school Climates, a translated form of O.C.D.Q(organizational climate description Questionaire) ; originally developed by Halpin and Croft, was used. The Questionaire differentiates the school climate into six categories : open, autonomous, controlled, familiar, paternal and closed.
b. Job Satisfaction Questionaire
A job satisfaction questionaire, based on Kim, Ki Jeong's study are used for this study.
III. The Results.
The followings were found from this study.
1. Among 22 Schools, 7 schools are classified as Familiar climate and 5 schools as open climate.
Also, closed climate are found in 5 schools and controlled climate in 3 schools. Autonomous climate appeared in one school and paternal climate in one school.
2. The satisfaction level of male teachers is higher than that of female teacher.
3. The relationship between school climate and job satisfaction by sex : Male teachers and female teachers showed the highest satisfaction in familiar climate. Also, male teachers showed the lowest satisfaction in autonomous climate and female teachers showed the lowest satisfaction in open climate.
4. The relationship between school climate and job satisfaction by position : Teachers and head teachers showed the highest satisfaction in familiar climate.
5. The relationship between school climate and job satisfaction by public or private school :
Public school teachers showed the highest satisfaction in familiar climate and private school teachers showed the highest satisfaction in controlled climate.
