암환자 배우자의 돌봄부담이 부부적응에 미치는 영향 -사회적 지지의 조절효과를 중심으로- = The moderating effects of social support on the relationship between care burden and marital adjustment in cancer patients` spouse-

Stable marriage has significant effects on cancer patient`s psycho-social adjustment, progress of the medical treatment, survival rate and the quality of life as well. Therefore, it is importance that social welfare related intervention and care are needed in order to further stabilize their marriage. However, there is a severe lack of empirical study about married cancer patient couples in Korea. Studies about how the spouse experiencing extreme distress while taking care of the cancer patient is almost non-existent. Purpose of this study is to lay the foundation for implementing social welfare practice for the cancer patient couples by focusing on the importance of stable marriage, on the effects that care burden has on the spouse of the cancer patient and the effects it has on their marital adjustment through evaluating these by moderated effect of social support, The survey was conducted with 203 spouses of cancer patients, Through this survey, it was revealed that the effect of the care burden and the social support on marital adjustment of the spouse of the cancer patient are found to be significant, About the care burden`s effect on marital adjustment, the social support had found to be have moderating effect. Based on these results, the conclusion that in order to lessen the stress related to care burden, system that provides vacation time for nursing the patient, providing the education for the care giver in the primary stage of the illness, counseling that provides psychological and emotional support and others are necessary. Moreover, in order to promote marital adjustment of cancer patient, the importance of strengthening the social support and not just the intervention of the social welfare for lessening the care burden had been provided by this research.
