포토보이스를 활용한 특수교사의 일상과 성장 경험 탐색 = Exploratory Study on the Everyday Life and Growth Experiences of Special Education Teachers: Using Photovoice Methodology

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Purpose: This study was to investigate the ecological characteristics of special education teachers, such as how their everyday lives are, and what properties they have. Method: For this purpose, photovoice methodology was used to find out the essence of everyday life. 9 special education teachers participated twice in a focus group interview with pictures taken by themselves, where they understood their experiences and developed critical thinking and solutions. Results: Collected data reveals 3 main themes and 11 subthemes. First, making an effort to prepare a class improves special education teachers, enabling them to perceive their identities. Second, everyday failures and frustrations that special education teachers can experience were mainly caused by external elements, and they could deteriorate the growth of special education teachers. Third, special education teachers understood they can improve the school culture and their skills through the their own efforts and teacher community. Conclusion: In conclusion, understandings, support measures and solutions about the improvement of special education teachers are suggested.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

연구목적: 이 연구는 특수학교에 근무하고 있는 특수교사의 일상은 어떠하며 어떤 특성을 가지고 있는지 그들의 생태학적 삶의 특성을 탐색하기 위한 연구이다. 연구방법: 이러한 목적에 따라 특수교사 9명을 대상으로 일상의 본질을 보다 잘 발견할 수 있도록 사진을 활용한 포토보이스 연구를 진행하였다. 참여자들이 직접 촬영한 사진을 중심으로 두 차례의 FGI를 통해 경험의 맥락을 이해하고 특정 상황에 대한 비판적 사고와 함께 해결책을 도출하는 과정을 가졌다. 연구결과: 수집된 자료를 분석한 결과 3개의 대주제와 11개의 하위주제가 도출되었다. 첫째, 특수교사는 수업 준비를 위해 꾸준히 노력하는 과정에서 좋은 교사로 성장하며, 그 과정에서 특수교사의 정체성을 강하게 인식하고 있었다. 둘째, 학교의 일과 속에서 겪는 특수교사의 실패와 좌절은 상당 부분 외부 요소에 의한 것이며 교사의 성장을 저해할 수 있는 것으로 바라보았다. 셋째, 교사들은 스스로의 노력과 교사공동체의 노력을 통해 함께 성장할 수 있으며 학교문화를 변화시킬 수 있음을 인식하였다. 결론: 이러한 연구 결과들을 바탕으로 특수교사의 성장에 대한 이해와 지원, 해결방안들을 제언하였다.
