With the subjects of the children of the families that broke away from North Korea and by applying a play-centered, group-counseling program, the purpose of this research is to take a look at the effects on the adaptation to the school life and the emotional adjustment of the children of the families that broke away from North Korea. Regarding the research subjects of this research, the subjects had been the children (5th grade and 6th grade) of the families that broke away from North Korea of the 00 religious organization that is located in Pyeongtaek City, Gyeonggi-do, and total of the 20 persons, including the 10 persons in the experimental group and the 10 persons in the control group. The play-centered, group-counseling program had been developed by Yoo, Ji-yeong (2015) with the school age children as the subjects. A total of 10 sessions had been proceeded with over the 10 weeks at 1 time per week. Before carrying out the program with the experimental group as the subjects, together with the guidance on the play-centered, group-counseling program, the prior inspection had been proceeded with. And, after the program ended, the post-inspection had been proceeded with. And, regarding the control group, the program had not been treated with. And, regarding the experimental group, the prior inspection and the post-inspection had been proceeded with during the same time period.
In order to verify the effects of the play-centered, group-counseling program, the analysis had been carried out as the following by using the SPSS 23.0 statistics program. Firstly, in order to verify the special, demographical characteristics and the homogeneity of the experimental group and the control group, among the non-parametric statistics, the Mann-Whitney U analysis had been carried out. Secondly, in order to verify the differences between the prior inspection and the post-inspection of the teacher's play therapy for the experimental group and the control group, among the non-parametric statistics, the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test had been carried out. If I were to put together the results of this research, it is as the following:
First, the play-centered, group-counseling program gives the positive influence on the improvement of the capability to adjust the emotions of the children of the families that broke away from North Korea. Among the lower-ranking factors of the emotional adjustment, regarding both the self-emotional adjustment and the other's emotional adjustment, the statistically significant effects had been shown.
Secondly, the play-centered, group-counseling program gives the positive influence on the improvement of the adaptation to the school life of the children of the families that broke away from North Korea. Regarding all of the lower-ranking factors of the adaptation to the school life, including the study at the school, the friends at the school, the teachers at the school, and the life at the school, the significant results had been shown.
As above, it had been proven that the play-centered, group-counseling program has the effects on the emotional adjustment and the adaptation to the school life of the children of the families that broke away from North Korea. And, this research has the significance with regard to the fact that it had dealt with the emotional aspects and the social aspects of the children of the families that broke away from North Korea through the play-centered, group-counseling program.
