Changes in global civic consciousness of research participants were suggested through the labor human rights education program and classified into 3 key topics as effectiveness of labor human rights education, personality changes of labor human rights education, and changes in global civic consciousness and behavior. The results of this study are as follows.
First, for effectiveness of labor human rights education, people with experience in labor human rights education had more interest in what they want to learn because the educational content was learner-centered education, and it was identified that learning motivation is the most important factor that determines the learning effect of learners. Also, students who did not have frequent access to labor human rights education could feel more bored when professor did not have expertise because of unfamiliar words and legal terms. Therefore, it was identified that expertise of professors plays a large part in creating learning effect.
Also, it was identified that participatory cooperative learning, not lecture method instruction, improves simulation or coping ability and has the effect of improving problem-solving ability in their workplace.
Secondly, personality changes appeared through the labor human rights education. A sense of self-worth was developed that students showed the power of execution of taking direct action to create society where labor is respected, can stand up for their rights with a strengthened sense of labor human rights, and could be the subject of practical human rights that can be expanded to an act of defending the rights of others through this experience. Also, they had an opportunity to improve democratic value and attitude as respect for human rights, spirit of generosity and compromise, realization of social justice, and sense of participation and obligation by acquiring the knowledge needed to enjoy social life as a democratic citizen. Also, a sense of community of understanding other culture and considering and relating to other races were formed through close interaction between members in community, the stage where people lay out their lives and place of life where people live together with others.
Thirdly, practical education has been achieved by approaching problems that people can experience as future worker starting from the reality that students experience through labor human rights education program of participatory cooperative learning, not lecture courses. As a result, research participants understood that labor is becoming the act of self-realization and is the process of people realizing their nature. Also, it was an opportunity for people to experience respect for themselves, respect for others, and a sense of responsibility in community life that they will encounter in the future. Global citizenship and changes in behavior of fighting for the smallest rights that they deserve as the citizen of a society and of realizing the importance of working with minority groups in our society appeared.
The part that this study has mainly focused on in research findings was not only content aspect, but on how various teaching methods as conducting participatory cooperative learning program, not cramming teaching method, can improve global civic consciousness. As a result, it was identified that applying human rights education continuously on classes in cross curricular aspect for students who will live as workers in the future is expected to make a positive effect on enhancement of global civic consciousness. It is because the culture of consideration and respect and of sharing and sympathy are the value that global civic consciousness essentially pursue.
