인스턴트 메신저의 사용성 평가 연구

국문 초록 (Abstract)

점차 복잡해져가는 컴퓨터 시스템들의 등장과 다국적 기업과의 무한 시장경쟁, 다양해져가는 사용자의 요구 등의 다양한 상황에서 많은 조직은 차별화 전략을 위한 수단으로 사용성(Usability)설계를 도입하기 위한 고민을 하고 있다. 사용성 설계를 위해서는 해당 시스템이 가진 문제점을 발견하고, 이를 수정하고 보완해야 하는데, 이때 필요한 것이 사용성 평가이다. 사용성 평가는 크게 전문가에 의한 분석적 평가(Analytical evaluation)와 실제 사용자들을 대상으로 하는 실증적 평가(Empirical evaluation)로 구분할 수 있다.분석적 평가는 사용성 주로 전문가들에 의해서 평가가 이루어지는 것으로 정해진 규칙에 의한 평가와 이론적인 모델을 이용하여 평가를 한다. 분석적 평가는 사용성 평가에 소요되는 비용이 실제 사용자들을 대상으로 하는 실증적 평가보다 더 적은 비용이 들기 때문에 더 빈번히 사용되고 있다.그러나 이러한 분석적 평가는 제품의 개발수명 주기 중, 초기와 중기에서 주로 사용되는 것인 것으로 보고되고 있으며, 후기 및 출시 이후에는 실제 사용자들을 대상으로 하는 실증적 평가가 이루어져야 한다. 이는 분석적 평가 방법이 전문가의 입장에서 실제 사용자들이 제품을 사용하는 과정에서 발생할 수 있는 문제점들을 간과할 수 있다는 한계점을 갖고 있기 때문이다. 따라서 두 방법은 보완적으로 사용되어야함에도 불구하고 많은 국내외 연구에서는 실증적 연구보다는 분석적 평가에 의한 연구들이 주를 이루고 있으며, 국내에서는 사용성 평가를 위한 평가체계 개발연구 등의 이론적 연구가 주를 이루고 있다.본 연구에서는 이러한 한계점을 지적하고, 실제 사용자들이 제품을 사용하는 과정에서의 수행도(Task Performance)를 측정하는 방법으로 실증적 방법에 의한 사용성 평가를 하였다. 실험을 위한 도구로써는 인터넷에서의 커뮤니케이션을 대표하는 매체로 최근 이용률이 증가하고 있는 인스턴트 메신저를 활용하고자 한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Many organizations consider the usability design as a way for differentiation strategy in diverse situation like as appearance of the complex computer system, infinite competition with multinational corporation and various needs of user. First of all, we should search out usability problems of existing system, adjust and make up for the problems. At this time, we require usability evaluation. Usability evaluation method can be devide by the two section. One thing is Analytical usability evaluation executed by experts, Other thing is Empirical usability evaluation executed by end users. Analytical usability evaluation is a method to evaluate the system. This method is fulfilled by decided rule and theoretical model. Usually. this method is used more than Empirical usability evaluation, because of less time and costs. But analytical usability evaluation is considered that this method is effective in early and middle stage of the product life cycle. In the latter term of product life cycle, empirical research is generally executed. Because analytical researches executed by experts have a limitation which problems occurred in used products by general user are ignored, analytical research and empirical research have to be complementarily used. Still and all, usability evaluation researches are focused on analytical research than empirical research, domestic majority usability researches have been about development of evaluation framework for usability. In this research, I put my finger on limitations and I evaluate as a usability method measuring task performance of the users when general end users use products. I applied a Instant Messenger recently increasing coefficient of utilization as the usability test tool and will suggest making a full of improvements.
