국문 초록 (Abstract)

쉐드린(Rodion Shchedrin, b.1932)은 현존하는 인물로 국제적으로 뛰어난 명성을 얻고 있는 러시아 출신의 작곡가이자 피아니스트이다.
그는 기존 작곡가들의 선율이나 화성을 받아들이면서, 그들의 음악 양식을 바탕으로 자신만의 독특한 음악 세계를 만들었다. 오스티나토, 다양한 오케스트레이션 기법, 톤 클러스터, 음정으로 형성되는 선율 등을 사용하여 다각적인 풍부함을 느끼게 하며, 악보에 아티큘레이션과 다이나믹의 변화, 페달 등 지시사항을 자세히 표시함으로써 작곡가 자신의 의도를 상세하게 연주자에게 전달하고자 하였다.
「2 Polyphonic Pieces」은 두 곡으로 이루어져 있는데 첫 번째 곡은 「2 Part Invention」이며, 대조되는 두 성부의 진행으로 구성되어있다. 이 곡은 미니멀 음악의 영향을 받아 최소한의 음악적 단위(Motive)가 끊임없이 반복되며, 반복으로 인한 단조로움을 리듬과 선율, 아티큘레이션의 확장과 변형을 통해 해소한다.
두 번째 곡은「Basso Ostinato」이며, 오스티나토 악구의 길이와 음형을 다르게 나타내어 변주한다. 이것은 단순한 리듬이나 액센트 효과와 같은 고전적인 수법에서 탈피하여 음색과 음향을 변화시켜 피아노의 타악기적인 사용을 보여준다.
그는 당시 러시아의 ‘사회주의 리얼리즘’의 원칙을 고수하면서 20세기 음악양식 어법을 자신만의 음악적 스타일로 재해석하여 현재까지 활발하게 작품을 위촉받아 활동을 하고 있다.

Rodion Shchedrin(b.1932) is an internationally renowned Russian living composer and pianist.
He created a distinctive musical entity of his own based on melody lines and harmonic progressions of his contemporaries. Shchedrin conveys his compositional ideas to performers in detail by providing meticulously notated musical directions, such as articulation, dynamic changes, pedal, etc., along with the use of ostinato, various orchestrational techniques, tone clusters, pitch collections, etc. to enunciate multilateral plentitude.
2 Polyphonic Pieces is made of two pieces. The first piece, 2 part Invention, is composed of two contrasting melodies. with the influence of minimalism, an infinite repetition of the minimal motives is presented, together with the expansion and modification of the rhythm, melody and articulation to alleviate the monotonousness of repetition.
The second piece is Basso Ostinato, with variations of length and structure of the phrase. This piece demonstrates the use of the piano as a percussion instrument by departing from the efficacy of incorporating traditional techniques concerning simple rhythms and accents, but rather through the deviation of tone colors and acoustics instead.
He has reinterpreted the 20th-century musical styles to his own idiosyncratic style, not withstanding the prevalence of the principles of the Russian ‘Socialist Realism’to actively perform and compose on commissioned works to this day.
