      The purpose of the current study was to investigate the developmental model of group counseling expertise. We classified the group counselor`s developmental process into four stages, and participants were recruited based on the criteria defining each stage. Forty therapists participated in this study, and three separate interviews were conducted with each participant. The interview data was analyzed by the ground theory approach(Strauss & Crobin, 1998). The results indicated that the core themes of this study were internalization and individuation. The group counselors` chronological developmental process could be summarized as the stages of transference early internalization, identity establishment, and individualization. The main themes were derived from the paradigm analyses regarding the developmental characteristics of group counselors.
