      The primary objective of this study is to investigate on social environment variables and personal variable affecting the career maturity attitude through path analyses, to setup a specific research model, and then to proceed to analyze the concerned relationship. To this end, the following research goal are set:
      1. Will social environment variables, such as an socioeconomic status, parental attitude, and significant others', affect the career maturity attitude?
      2. Will personal variables, like students' academic achievement and their self-esteem influence the career maturity attitude?
      3. Will social environment variables and personal ones, affecting the career maturity attitude, show difference in their career maturity attitude depending on sex and age of the group concerned?
      in order to approach these questions, 522 elementary students and middle students were sampled from 5th grade to 8th grade from Seoul and the country. Over all, 6 scales were employed. They were career maturity scale by Korea Educational Development department (1992). The perceived parental attitudes scale by Li Seung Kuk (1998). The significant others' support scale between the family support scale by Dubow Ullman (1989). the friends' support by Harter (1985) and Dubow Ullman(1989) respectively. self-esteem scale by Kim hi hwa (1998) and the researcher's socioeconomic status scale and the perceived academic achievement proposed here. for the validity and reliability of the research preliminary, pilot were executed on elementary student 60 plus 60 middle ones.
      The data were analyzed by factor analysis, reliability analysis, multiple sample analysis and AMOS 4.01 statistical analysis software program.
      The results of the study were as follows:
      The path analysis of the whole sample showed that research path can not be generalized for there is no factor influencing the career maturity attitude.
      First, socioeconomic factor did not affect the career maturity attitude. And secondly, the personal factor did not influence the career maturity attitude also. However, the path analyses of group of different sexes and ages showed that both the socioeconomic and the personal factor affected the career maturity attitude. Thirdly, the multi-sample analysis was executed to find out whether socioeconomic and personal factors, affecting the career maturity attitude, will show the difference depending on age and sex. The result showed that there was no difference between different sexes but there was between different ages. The result of the research is summarized along the axes of sexes and ages.
      here follows the result the analysis according to the sex.
      the result of the analysis on the socioeconomic status(SES hereafter) showed that it, one of extraneous variables, directly influences the perceived parental attitude, the significant others' support and affect the career maturity attitude not directly, but indirectly mediated through the above two parameters. More closely, SES had greater effect on male(0.440) rather than female(0.359) in the academic achievement level, the most affected area. Ranked as more affected, for male, self-esteem, significant others' support, career maturity attitude and perceived parental attitude followed one after another, while for female, significant others' support, self-esteem, perceived parental attitude, and career maturity attitude did in sequence.
      the result of the analysis on the perceived parental attitude showed that it directly influences the career maturity attitude, the significant others' support and affect the academic achievement level not directly, but indirectly mediated through the above two parameters. More closely, the perceived parental attitude had greater effect on male(0.366) rather than female(0.438) in the significant others' support, the most affected area. and then it affected, for the students of the both group, career maturity attitude, self-esteem, and academic achievement level followed one after another.

More closely, the significant others support variable had greatest effect on female(0.556) rather than male(0.453) in the academic achievement variable, the most affected area. Ranked as more affected, career maturity attitude followed one after another.

      the result of the analysis on the self-esteem variable showed that it did not directly influences on career maturity attitude. the self-esteem variable had effect on male(-0.085) and female(-0.366) in the career maturity attitude rather negatively.
      In the case of age, the result of the path analysis on the ages showed that the socioeconomic status did not have direct effect on the perceived parental attitude variable, the significant others support and the academic achievement level. according to total effect, the socioeconomic status had greatest effect on the academic achievement level of elementary student(0.355), middle student(0.348) and then it affected, for the students of the both group, self-esteem, significant others support, career maturity attitude, perceived parental attitude in order.
      the perceived parental attitude variable had direct effect on the significant others support and the career maturity attitude but had not direct effect on the academic achievement level, the perceived parental attitude variable had indirect effect on the self-esteem and the career maturity attitude by having direct effect on the significant others support. according to total effect, the perceived parental attitude had greatest effect on the significant others support variable of elementary(0.373), middle student(0.366) and then it affected, for the students of the both group, the career maturity attitude, self-esteem, academic achievement level in order.
      the significant others support had direct effect on the academic achievement level and the self-esteem variable, and had indirect effect on the self-esteem variable and the career maturity attitude by having direct effect on the academic achievement but the significant others support variable had not direct effect on the career maturity attitude. according to total effect, the significant others support variable had greatest effect on self-esteem variable of elementary student(0.506), middle student(0.453) and then it affected, for the students of the both group, academic achievement variable, career maturity attitude in order, but the significant others support variable had insignificantly negative effect on middle student.
      the academic achievement level had direct effect on the career maturity attitude level and self-esteem variable. according to total effect, the academic achievement had greatest direct effect on self-esteem variable of elementary student(0.392), middle student(0.366) and then it affected, for the students of the both group, career maturity attitude.
      the self-esteem had not direct effect on the career maturity attitude. according to total effect, the self-esteem had direct effect on career maturity attitude level of the elementary student(-0.144), middle student(-0.091), rather negatively.
