Today, users of smart phones has increased dramatically. Smart phones are developed in a variety of hardware specifications and platforms. Moreover network behavior for telephony service may be different for each country or operator. Therefore, test for all of each case has to be done essentially to assure these phones are working properly. But defects that are discovered during testing are difficult to predict because of diversity of user environment, and if this is reproduced only at a remote location, it’s hard to be solved quickly. This could be an obstacle for timeliness of release product to meet needs of the market.
Remote testing can be one of the solution for this kind of issue. Direct control and getting log for remote device can reduce the time cost that is consumed for repeat of code correction and confirmation test between remote places. But existing remote testing solutions are not efficient for mobile phones because of smart phone’s mobility characteristics. In this paper, a method of redirecting message from local to remote at the RIL layer is proposed. Developers can test remote device as they use their own device through this method.
