한국의 해외직접투자가 고용에 미치는 영향 분석 = Analysis on effects of foreign direct investment of Korea on employment

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study analyzed effects of FDI(Foreign Direct Investment) on employment in electronics and automobile industry in Korea. We used 613 manufacturers’ panel data for 12 years. The results can be summarized as follows. First, FDI affects employment negatively in electronics industry while it gives no statistically significant effect in automobile industry. Second, the FDI of joint overseas expansion has less negative effect or rather more positive effect on employment than stand-alone overseas expansion; thus, there is difference in the effect of FDI on employment by overseas expansion types. Third, in the minor enterprises of electronics industry, FDI shows negative effects on employment. Fourth, due to the FDI, domestic investment and production facilities get to be substituted or transferred to foreign countries in electronics industry; thus, it affects domestic employment negatively.
