A study on the relative importance of consultant's evaluation factors
- A comparison between Conjoint analysis and Fishbein model -
This study has attempted to verify and evaluate the degree of relative importance of consultant evaluating factors(education, consulting license, consulting experience, experience in similar projects, consulting fees) of consulting client companies proposed in the previous study results.
To achieve this, the Study I has identified the degree of relative importance through the conjoint analysis, and the Study II has reverified the results of Study I by applying the Fishbein model to increase the external validity(generalization).
Especially in the Study I, by segmentalizing the survey targets into 'decision makers', 'influencing party' and 'receiving party', the difference of relative importance of each consulting evaluating factors shown during the purchase decision process was examined.
In the Study I, the relative importance of consultant evaluating factors through conjoint analysis was shown highest in the 'experience in similar projects' followed by consulting experience, consulting fees, education and consulting license.
The Study II was conducted to support the results of Study I. The study results using the Fishbein model have shown the highest relative importance in the 'experience in similar projects' followed by consulting experience, consulting license, education and consulting fees, and it has reconfirmed the results of Study I.
Such study results show that evaluating factors on the consultant by the consulting client companies puts more emphasis on the consulting experience and the experience in similar projects over the education or consulting license. In other words, it suggests that care companies puts more importance on the field knowledge which can immediately be utilized practically than the theoretical knowledge of consultants.
In addition, despite that this study has used the other study methods(conjoint analysis, Fishbein model) in theoretical aspects but the fact that it has derived with similar results, the external validity of this study results have been secured.
Therefore, the person in charge of marketing for consulting companies must consider the experience in similar projects by the consultants as a top priority, and a differentiated strategic approach should be attempted according to the negotiating partners(decision maker, influencing party, person in charge of consulting) of consulting client companies.
