미용고등학교 봉사활동 실태 및 활성화 방안

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 서울과 인천지역에 소재하고, 미용학과가 있는 미용고등학교 및 실업계 고등학교를 임의적으로 선정하여 3학년 남․여 400명을 대상으로 봉사활동에 대한 인식, 미용봉사활동에 대한 인식을 조사 하였다. 봉사활동에 대한 학생들의 인식을 알아보고, 문제점과 개선점을 통하여 미용봉사활동이 활성화하기 위한 자료로 활용하는데 연구의 목적이 있다. 자원봉사활동은 청소년들로 하여금 건전한 인격을 형성할 수 있도록 도움을 주며, 자기 존재의 의미와 자기를 소중히 여기는 태도로 길러 준다. 자원봉사 활동을 통해 개인의 잠재능력, 시간, 지식 등을 가치 있는 일에 사용한다면, 능력 활용뿐 아니라 새로운 기술이나 지식을 경험할 수 있고, 자신의 능력을 더욱 계발하고 발전시킬 수 있다. 분석결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 봉사활동에 대한 학생들의 경험 유․무를 알아본 결과 대부분의 학생들이 봉사활동에 대한 경험이 있다고 응답하였다. 하지만 미용고등학교에서 봉사활동은 이루어지나, 미용봉사활동은 이루어지지 않고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 봉사활동을 경험한 학생들은 봉사활동에 대한 관심도 및 만족감이 상당히 높은 것으로 나타났다. 또한 봉사활동을 참여하는 계기는 학교에서 실시하는 봉사활동이 가장 많았으며, 개인적으로 봉사활동을 하는 학생들이 적었다. 학교에서의 교육이 주입식 교육과 입시위주의 교육으로 인해 개인적인 시간이 부족하여, 봉사활동을 하기에 무리가 있기 때문이라고 볼 수 있다. 봉사활동을 하지 않았던 학생들의 이유를 살펴보면, 시간이 없거나 봉사활동에 대한 정보 및 의미를 모르기 때문이라고 한다. 이것은 학교에서 입시위주의 교육과 진학에만 초점을 맞추어 학교 이미지를 높이는 것에만 신경 쓰고 있기 때문이다. 또한 봉사활동 후 다시하고 싶지 않은 이유는 상대하기 싫거나, 봉사에 대한 의미를 모른다고 한다. 학생들은 봉사활동에 대한 의미와 소외된 이웃에 대한 배려심과 공동체 의식이 점점 사라지고 있다는 뜻이다. 미용학교에서의 미용봉사 동아리 활동의 유․무를 살펴보면 대부분 미용봉사활동 동아리가 없다고 한다. 학교에서 권장을 하지 않으며, 시행 횟수 역시도 적은 것으로 나타났다. 미용고등학교의 학생들은 미용봉사활동 동아리가 만들어지길 원하며, 그것을 통하여 기술습득 및 어려운 이웃에게 도움을 주고 싶어 한다. 미용봉사활동을 실시하였을 경우 학생들이 할 수 있는 분야를 보면, 대부분의 학과 학생들이 주변 환경정리를 한다. 라고 응답했다. 이것은 자신의 전공분야에 대해 자신이 없기 때문이라고 볼 수 있다. 그렇다면 미용을 배운 학생들과 배우지 않는 학생과 차이점은 크지 않는 것으로 보여 진다. 이상의 연구 결과를 통해 다음과 같이 제언하고자 한다. 우선적으로 첫째, 봉사활동에 대한 의미와 의식이 바뀌어야 한다. 둘째, 봉사활동을 하는 학생들에게 지속적인 후원과 사후 관리가 필요하다. 셋째, 학교에 봉사활동 전문교사가 배치되어야 한다. 넷째, 미용봉사동아리가 활발히 운영되어야한다. 다섯째, 다양한 봉사 프로그램이 개발되어야한다. 여섯째, 미용봉사과목이 수업시간에 이루어져야 한다. 이와 같은 방법을 통하여 미용고등학교의 미용봉사활동이 이루어져야 할 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Voluntary Service is helpful for teenagers in shaping a healthy personality and in developing the attitude of cherishing the value of oneself and one's ego. If a person can use his or her potential ability, time, knowledges, etc. in a valuable work through voluntary service, he or she can improve and develop his or her capacity. In this sense, voluntary service plays an important role in an adolescent period. As school education, however, is focused on learning by rote for entrance examination, the purpose of this research is to identify students' satisfaction with school classes and their cognition on voluntary service and to examine the necessity for introducing voluntary service subject. For this research, male and female students in the third grade in randomly selected beauty high schools with the department of beauty and vocational high schools, which are located in Seoul and Incehon, were surveyed about their cognition on voluntary service, classes of the department of beauty, and beauty voluntary service. Following is the result. Now, the department of beauty is specified into the department of total beauty(hair, skin, makeup, nail art), hair design, skin care, makeup, etc. with professional education being conducted. In regard to the reason of choosing the department of beauty, more than 50% of students appear to made such choice for their career for the future. The students don't seem to complain about satisfaction with the classes and their choice of the department, but it was discovered that the content of the school classes were focused on certifications. Of course, it is natural that classes focused on certifications are conducted in vocational high schools, but every same content of the classes were leading to such education which lacks in creativity and reality for the students. Even only with this aspect, the classes of the department of beauty appear to have a problem. Since 31th May, 1995, when Education Reform Committee suggested an educational reform plan to establish a new system of education, students' voluntary service became compulsory. Actually, students' voluntary service is being conducted during allocated time in the area of extra-curricular activity. In a survey of the students on whether they experienced voluntary service or not, most of them appeared to have experienced voluntary service, and their cognition on voluntary service was found to be average, which means that voluntary service is not actively conducted when compared to their degree of interest. The current situation is that the voluntary service in schools is not sufficiently satisfying the students and is not helping each of the students to realize something special. Also, various opportunities to learn skills and accumulate experiences through voluntary service are not offered. With voluntary service being compulsory as an extra-curricular activity in the 7th Educational Curriculum, students were hardly able to pay attention to the meaning of voluntary service and community spirit as a democratic citizen, just performing meaningless voluntary service in order to fill the allocated time for their grade-points. That is, just a formal education is being conducted because voluntary service is included in the educational curriculum. Grades are important for students to enter a university, but helping them to have a right view of life and to realize the dignity of a human is thought to precede. For this, voluntary service subject should be included in the educational curriculum.
