불륜 소재 멜로드라마 캐릭터의 신화원형 패턴연구 : 드라마 〈부부의 세계〉를 중심으로

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 캐릭터 창조가 숙명과도 같은 배우와 작가에 있어서 보편성을 가진 캐릭터 구축을 돕기 위함으로 신화원형을 대입시켰다. 특히 멜로드라마 속 캐릭터를 중점으로 연구하였는데, 이유는 과거와 현재를 아울러 사회를 가장 친밀하게 반영한 매체가 TV 드라마이기 때문이고, 가장 주를 이루는 장르인 멜로드라마를 선택하였다. 그중에서도 불륜이라는 소재는 멜로드라마의 특징을 잘 드러내며 누가 불륜을 주도하는지와 인물이 가진 사회적 역할에 따라 일정한 신화원형의 패턴이 나타나는 것을 알 수 있다.
이런 원형의 패턴이 드러날 수 있던 이유는 신화가 오래 전부터 사람들 입을 통해 전해져왔기 때문이다. 신화는 인간의 내면과 본질적인 면모가 잘 드러나 있다. 신화는 이야기마다 이야기를 끌고 가는 중심인물이 있으며, 상황보다는 인물 중심의 플롯으로 구성된다. 볼린은 이런 신들을 유형화시켜 심리에 대입했고 본 연구에서는 이를 이용해 멜로드라마 <부부의 세계> 주요 인물에게 신화원형을 접목하였다. <부부의 세계>에서 나타난 인물들에게서 신화원형이 각각 다양하게 나타났고, 실제 신화의 인물 관계가 연관되는 결과도 보였다.
이로써 본 연구에서는 어떤 캐릭터를 창조하고자 할 때, 신화원형을 이용하면 보다 보편적이면서도 타당성이 강한 캐릭터를 만들 수 있기에 설득력 있는 연기와 스토리텔링을 할 수 있다고 여겨진다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study substituted a mythical archetype to help with character building for actors and writers whose creation of character is like a destiny. In particular, the study focused on the characters in melodramas, the most dominant genre in TV dramas which most closely reflects the past and present society. Among them, infidelity is a subject that demonstrates the characteristics of melodrama well with the patterns of certain mythical archetypes depending on who leads the infidelity and the social roles of the characters.
Such archetypical patterns are shown because myths have been passed down orally by people for a long time, revealing the internal and essential aspects of human beings well. Each story of mythology has a central character who leads the story and is composed of a plot centered on the character rather than the situation. Bolen categorized these myths and substituted them into psychology, which this study used to graft mythological archetypes to the main characters of Korean melodrama <The World of the Married>.
Each character in the drama showed a variety of mythical archetypes, with a result that they were related to the actual relationship of mythical characters. Therefore, using mythical archetypes can create a more universal and valid character to carry out more convincing acting and storytelling.
