BaTiO3/epoxy composites are the major candidate for the dielectric materials applicable to the embedded capacitors in printed circuit boards (PCBs). The dielectric properties of BaTiO3/epoxy composites prepared using the agglomerated BaTiO3 particles are investigated in the resent study. The dielectric constants as well as the polarizations of BaTiO3/epoxy composites prepared using the agglomerated BaTiO3 particles were much higher than those of the composites with the well-dispersed particles. Using the agglomerated BaTiO3 powders heat-treated at 1000oC for 1 hr, BaTiO3/epoxy composite films (~20 m) having dielectric constants μ as high as 66 were obtained in ceramic loading as low as 40 vol%. The enhancement of the
dielectric constants of BaTiO3/epoxy composites prepared using the agglomerated BaTiO3 particles might be attributed to the enhanced parallel arrangement of BaTiO3 particles in epoxy matrix.
