지역사회의 생태학적 특성이 비행친구와 비행에 미치는 영향 검증 = Testing the Effect of Community`s Ecological Characteristics on Delinquent Peer Relations and Delinquency Behaviors

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of community`s ecological characteristics on juvenile peer relations and delinquency behaviors. To accomplish the goals, this study used SPSS 18 and HLM 6.02 in order to analyses the data of 3th, 4th, 5th in NYPS collected from 2152 middle school panel students living in the same address during three years and the census data of 85 cities and counties from Korean Statistical Information Service and E-Local Statistics. According to the results, community`s structure characteristics have a limited effects on functional characteristics. Moreover, informal social control had not have any direct relations with structural characteristics of community but seemed to have an indirect relation throughout social cohesion. The findings from HLM in order to examine the effect of macro variables on delinquent peer relations shown that the rate of people assisted from public supports was a single variable having an effect among community level variables, but the explanatory power was very small. On the other hand, the level of people assisted from public supports was actually turned out showing poor elder people in community which seemed to reduce the ability of physical supervision on juveniles in community. In delinquency model of HLM analysis with controlling delinquent peer relations and macro variables, social cohesion was only a statistically significant variable among community level variables to predict juvenile delinquency. These results, unlike hypotheses, meant that community`s ecological characteristics had limited effects on delinquent peer relations and delinquency.
