자기개념 복잡성과 심리적 적응 관계에서의 인지적 유연성 및 자기개념 명확성의 매개효과 모형 검증 = The Relation between Self-Complexity and Subjective Well-being Throughout Cognitive Flexibility and Self-concept Clarity

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study was to examine whether self-complexity predicted psychological adjustment. Cognitive
flexibility and self-concept clarity were hypothesized as factors that mediate this process. A total of 200
undergraduate students at a university in Seoul, South Korea participated the study and completed a packet of
questionnaires including self-complexity, self-concept clarity, cognitive flexibility, subjective well-being, and
perceived stress. Structural equation modeling indicated that there were the partial mediating effect of cognitive
flexibility in the relationship between self-complexity and self-concept clarity. In addition, findings indicated
support for the hypothesis that this partial mediating process showed an increase in psychological adjustment.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 자기개념 복잡성이 인지적 유연성과 자기개념 명확성을 통해 심리적 적응에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 알
아보았다. 대학생 200명을 대상으로 구조방정식 모형을 이용해 매개효과를 살펴본 결과, 자기개념 복잡성과 자기개
념 명확성의 관계에 있어서 인지적 유연성은 부분매개 변인으로 작용했다. 그리고 이 부분매개 과정이 결과적으로
개인의 심리적 적응 수준을 높이는지 살펴보기 위해 설정한 모형도 적합한 것으로 검증되었다. 즉, 다양하고 복잡한
역할과 특성을 가진 사람이 만족과 행복을 느끼며 살기 위해서는, 유연한 사고를 통해 그러한 자기모습을 명확히 인
식하는 과정을 거쳐야 함을 의미한다. 이와 같은 결과는 다양한 역할을 갖기 시작하고 자신의 여러 모습을 발견하게
되는 시기인 성인기 초반의 사람들에게 더욱 큰 의미가 있을 것이다. 이들이 어떤 상황에서든 적응적인 모습을 보이
며 만족스러운 삶을 살 수 있으려면, 인지적 유연성의 발달을 통해서 통합적이며 총체적인 자아상을 성립하는 과정
이 수반되어야 함을 시사한다고 본다.
