지방공무원의 성격유형과 셀프리더십에 관한 연구: 무안군 공무원을 중심으로 = The Relation between Personality Type and Self-Leadership of Local Government Officials: Focusing on Public Officials in Muan County

The purpose of this study is to empirically analyze the relationship between personality type using MBTI(Myers-Briggs Type Indicator) and self-leadership of local government officials. Recently, in an unpredictable era as COVID-19, the limitations of traditional leadership centered on instructions and command based on authoritarian hierarchies are revealed. Interest in self-leadership, which values partnerships based on the autonomy of members of the organization, is increasing. Self-leadership is that members themselves become their own leaders, control themselves, and act autonomously, and is expected to be highly related to the individual characteristics of members of the organization. A survey was conducted on public officials working at Muan County Office in Jeollanamdo. The collected data were analyzed by ANOVA and regression analysis using SPSS. According to research results, MBTI temperament is significantly associated with self-leadership. The level of self-leadership of the NF type and the NT type is significantly higher than that of the SJ type, respectively. These findings suggest that organizational managers need a self leadership enhancement strategy program based on understanding one’s MBTI temperament.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 연구에서는 지방공무원의 성격유형과 셀프리더십의 관계를 경험적으로 분석하였다. 권위주의적 위계질서에 토대를 둔 지시와 명령 위주의 전통적 리더십은 최근 COVID-19과 같은 예측불허의 시대에 한계가 있음을 자각하고, 조직구성원의 자율에 의한 파트너십을 중요시하는 셀프리더십에 대한 관심이 증가하고 있다. 셀프리더십은 구성원 스스로가 자신의 리더가 되어 스스로를 통제하고 자율적으로 행동하는 것으로, 조직구성원의 개별적 특성인 성격과 관련성이 높을 것으로 본다. 전남 무안군청의 지방공무원들을 대상으로 설문조사를 하였고, 수집된 데이터는 SPSS 분산분석과 회귀분석 프로그램을 활용하여 분석하였다. 분석결과 무안군 공무원의 MBTI 성격유형은 셀프리더십과 유의한 관련이 있었다. 특별히 직관적 감정형(NF)과 직관적 사고형(NT) 공무원들의 셀프리더십의 수준이 감각적 판단형(SJ)의 경우보다 각각 유의미하게 높은 것으로 조사되었다. 이러한 결과는 공무원의 셀프리더십을 향상시키기 위한 교육 및 훈련 시에 개별 구성원의 성격적 기질을 고려할 필요가 있음을 시사한다.
