독서를 통한 표현 활동 증진 방안 연구 : 덕산중학교의 독서 교육 운영 사례를 중심으로 = A Study on the Improvement of Expression Activity through Reading -Focused on Reading Education Precticed in Deoksan Middle School-

The importance of 'reading' has been emphasized in a Knowledge-based information society. Based on many researches, it turns out that reading cultivates righteous character of students and has a positive effect on creativity development.
Schools recognized the importance of reading and has made efforts to instruct reading. However, reading instruction is focused on analyzing and memorizing given writings or writing book reports until now.
This research thus has explored various pression activities through students' reading.
For this purpose, it has been aimed at 54 students of 3rd grade in Deosk-san Middle school and the effect of this study has verified the effect through the comparative survey of pre and post program.
This researcher has divided specific expression activities into pre-reading. while-reading and post-reading of teaching methods.

1. Pre-teaching through reading has been performed concerning emotionally insecure students. Also, to remove students' fear in expression activities who are not accustomed to expression activities, the program mainly consists of 'Drawing my tree' and 'Myself through self-reflection'. On the one hand, 'Photograph contest with books' , 'Conveying book treasure' have been provided for students who are not interested in reading books.

2. For while-reading instruction, students have been made to actively check their own reading through check-list and underlining activities on a textbook to confirm their own reading.

3. Post-reading activities are divided into factual understanding, critical appreciation, creative appreciation stage and then they have been instructed. At first, some activities such as 'Speaking about book introduction','Advertising books', 'Drawing a picture of book comprehension' have been performed in order to help students' understanding.'Cyber essay writing class' has been operated to activate logical and critical thought. In addition, for creative reorganization, 'making palm poetry book', 'creating a novel play have been performed.

As a result of instruction, students came to be interested in reading and to acquire confidence in expressing their own thought according to the survey.

Nowadays, it is very important to efficiently express their thought and opinion. Also, it is necessary to cultivate a sound character for living in community. Reading is a very efficient program to achieve these two goals.
Students can expand the appreciation range through reading books and activities to express in various ways. Furthermore, it contributes to improving self-expression and creativity. Accordingly, a great deal of effort should be made for students to develop into a whole-person in schools through varied reading instruction.
