There are many irrigation facilities in the Dongjin River basin from ancient times to present. The existence of these irrigation facilities arises from the lack of water supplies to the wide plains of the river basin, which results from the topographic feature of the upstream area formed by volcanic activity. On the other hand, these irrigation facilities had a great influence on the formation of history and culture in this area. Typical examples are Byeokgolje, Manseokbo, Ununamje, and the floodgate in Nakyangri.
The purpose of this study is to develop contents that can approach the history and culture in an integrated way based on the natural geographical environment by extracting local resources around the Dongjin River basin.
In the natural geography environment area, geological contents and geographic contents were developed and classified as nature-geography contents. In the human environment area, they were classified into irrigation facility contents and History-Culture contents. The contents of nature-geography, irrigation facilities, and history-culture were constructed in a storytelling structure so that it can be independently developed for each area throughout the Dongjin River basin. In addition, since contents of three areas are linked and integrated with each other, it is possible to unite these contents as follows: nature-geography and irrigation facilities, irrigation facilities and history-culture, and nature-geography and history-culture.
In order to utilize the developed contents, it is divided into integrated field trip and tourism program. In the former category, the contents of the three areas are integrated and divided into upper, middle, and lower sections of the watershed, The course was designed to be applied three times, and it takes a whole day to complete one course. In the tourism program, the local festival and the tourist attraction centered on the contents distributed around the local festival were presented to the tourists.
