북한이탈모의 초등학생 자녀 양육 경험 연구 = A Study on North Korean Mothers' Parenting of Their Elementary School Children in South Korea

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The aim of this study is to understand the parenting of elementary school children by North Korean mothers in South Korea. To achieve this purpose, five mothers were interviewed about the difficulties and confusion they experienced while parenting, and how they solved problems they encountered. The data were analyzed using a grounded theory methodology. It was found that the mothers had much difficulty in supporting their elementary school children at school. Their confusion resulted from the differences in the educational systems of North Korea, South Korea, and China. To solve their difficulties, the mothers requested help from their neighbors and local education agencies. Based on the results of the study, it was suggested that the initial adaption agency should introduce parenting programs, that a support system should be established in elementary schools, and that local community support networks should be established.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 북한이탈모가 남한에서 초등학생 자녀를 양육하면서 겪는 경험을 이해하고, 적절한 지원책을 모색하고자, 초등학생 자녀를 둔 북한이탈모 5명을 대상으로 심층면담을 실시하였고, 근거이론의 방법을 적용하여 자료를 분석하였다. 연구 결과 초등학생 자녀를 둔 북한이탈모는 남한 초등학교의 허용적인 교실분위기, 기술체계가 다른 성적표, 학년진급에 따른 학급구성원의 변화, 숙제가 없는 아이들, 외래어와 외국어가 많은 안내장 등을 접하면서 자신이 경험했던 북한의 교육문화와 자녀가 다녔던 중국의 학교 모습과는 다른 남한의 초등학교 문화를 느끼고, 주변 이웃, 지역기관과 상호작용하며 긍정적인 마음으로 자녀 교육의 문제를 해결해 나가고 있는 것으로 드러났다. 이상과 같은 연구 결과를 통해 하나원에서부터의 체계적인 부모교육 프로그램 도입, 북한이탈학생을 지원하는 학교현장의 체계적인 제도 정비, 협력적인 지역사회 공동체망 확대 구축을 제안하였다.
