1920년대 경북 김천지역의 사회운동 - 금릉청년회를 중심으로 - = Social Movements in Gimcheon, Gyeongsangbuk-do in the 1920s - Focusing on the Geumneong Youth Association -

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This thesis examines concretely and empirically the significant figures of the Geumneung Youth Association who led the Gimcheon social movement in the 1920s and the process of change in their activities. And the purpose of this result is to show the characteristics of the social movement in the Gimcheon area.
The Geumneung Youth Association was organized in August 1921 with the participation of many residents of Gimcheon. At that time, most of the elected executives were representative figures in commerce, industry, education, media, and politics. The Geumneung Youth Association distributed the ShimDeukseo(心得書)' to his members to keep their practices to transform each individual into a modern human being. At the same time, the youth association carried out various activities to spread this movement to the people of Gimcheon.
Beginning with the regular general meeting of the Geumneung Youth Association in March 1924, socialist figures were elected as some of the executives of this organization. After that, the activities of the Geumneung Youth Association changed direction to a socialist movement. After the Joseon Youth Federation was founded, the Geumneung Youth Association also held an 'Innovation General Assembly' and transformed into a 'Youth mass-centered organization.' Then, as socialists Hwang Tae-Seong and Hong Bo-Yong from other regions settled in Gimcheon, they led the Geumneung Youth Association. Comparing with the activities of the Geumneung Youth Association at the beginning of its founding, the youth association took a more playful attitude toward the interests of local people and national issues during this period.
When the Shinganhoe (新幹會) was established, the movement to organize the Shinganhoe’s branch began in Gimcheon. The Geumneung Youth Association attempted to unite among socialist groups in Gimcheon. During this time, the nationalist camp organized the Gimcheon- munwoohoe(文友會). Then, the Geumneung Youth Association held a regular general meeting and declared a 'change of direction to a mass movement.' 'Shinganhoe Gimcheon branch' was founded under the leadership of the Geumneung Youth Association. The officers elected at this time were members of the Gimcheon-munwoohoe and the Geumneung Youth Association. In August 1927, the Geumneung Youth Association was converted to the Gimcheon Branch of the Gimcheon Youth League.
As Hong Bo-Yong and Hwang Tae-Seong left Gimcheon, members of the Gimcheon-munwoohoe led the Shinganhoe Gimcheon branch. Due to the obstruction of the Japanese governmental policies, the Shinganhoe Gimcheon Branch could no longer meet and was disbanded.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 논문에서는 1920년대 김천 사회운동을 주도했던 금릉청년회의 주도인물과 활동 양상에 대해 구체적이고 실증적으로 살펴봄으로써 이 지역 사회운동의 변화 과정을 밝히고자 하였다.
금릉청년회는 1921년 8월 수많은 김천지역민들이 참석한 가운데 조직되었다. 선출된 임원들은 거의 상공계, 교육계, 언론계, 정치계 등을 대표하는 인물들이었고 회장 고덕환은 타지인이었다. 금릉청년회는 초기에 회원의 연대 및 친목을 위한 답사와 체육대회를 비롯한 다양한 사업을 전개한 후 회원들의 개인 수양을 위해‘심득서’를 배포하고 전국 청년운동단체인 조선청년연합회와 교류를 시작했다. 이후 중앙과 긴밀한 관계를 가지며 청년운동을 전개하였다.
1924년 3월 정기총회를 기점으로 사회주의 성향의 인물들이 일부 임원으로 선출되었다. 이후 금릉청년회는 사회주의운동으로 전환하기 시작하였다. 조선청년총동맹이 창립된 이후 금릉청년회도 이에 따라 혁신총회를 개최하고 청년 대중 중심의 단체로 전환하였다. 이후 타지 출신의 사회주의자인 황태성과 홍보용이 김천에 정착하면서 금릉청년회는 이들에 의해 주도되었다.
신간회가 창립되자 김천에서도 신간회 김천지회를 조직하기 위한 움직임이 시작되었다. 금릉청년회는 김천 사회주의 단체들간의 연합을 시도한 후 대중운동으로의 방향 전환을 선언하였다. 금릉청년회는 민족주의 단체인 김천문우회와 연합하여 신간회 김천지회를 조직하였다. 선출된 간부진은 금릉청년회와 김천문우회 소속 인물들이었다. 1927년 8월 금릉청년회는 김천청년동맹 김천지부로 전환되었다. 홍보용과 황태성이 김천을 떠나면서 김천문우회 소속 인물들이 신간회 김천지회를 주도하였다. 1931년 5월 이후 김천지회는 일경의 반대로 더 이상 모임을 갖지 못하고 해체되었다.
금릉청년회는 명망있는 지역의 장년층과 사회주의 청년들에 의해 주도되었으나 중심인물들은 타지인들이었다. 이들이 김천 사회운동의 중심에 있었던 것은 이 지역이 경북 서부의 상권 중심지였고, 김천역이 개통되면서 타지인들이 쉽게 정착할 수 있는 지역이었기 때문에 가능했던 것으로 보인다.
