초,중학교 전환기 학생들의 교과태도 및 학교행복감 차이 분석 = An Analysis of the Difference in Academic Attitudes and School Happiness between Elementary and Middle School Students in the School-transition Period

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study aims to analyze students`` characteristics focusing on the difficulties they face during elementary-to-middle school transition. Data were collected from 111 6th-grade elementary school students and 264 1st grade middle school students in Seoul and Gyeong-gi Province. Academic attitude and school happiness tests were carried out on these students seasonally to find out differences in their levels in terms of gender and school level. Individualinterviews were conducted after selecting students showing a large degree of variation in the test results to find out the reasons and motives for the change.The results show a significant difference in the levels of attitude towards math between males/females and school levels, and a significant difference in the levels of attitude towards English between school levels only. In terms of school happiness, no difference was found between male and female students, but there was a significant difference between students in elementary and middle school with those of middle school students’ being lower than those of elementary school students. Based on these results, suggestions are made to provide public educational supports for students in the elementary-to-middle school transition period.
