지역특성과 사회복지기관의 사회통합지향성의 관계: 자치단체의 재정자립도, 노인비율, 수급자비율을 중심으로 = The impact of community characteristics on social inclusion orientation among social service providers in South Korea; focused on financial self-sufficiency, the elderly, and welfare beneficiaries

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study is to investigate the impact of community characteristics on social inclusion orientation among social service providers. Financial self-sufficiency of local government, percentage of the aged, and percentage of public assistance beneficiaries have been taken into account as community characteristics. Social inclusion orientation has been used as the dependent variable implying how much community-based social service providers make efforts toward social inclusion.
Data collected from a nationwide mailed survey of 1,569 facilities which include residential facilities and community social service centers. Besides 160 respondents which are inappropriate for the analysis, 760 facilities were used for the analysis. Variables about community characteristics were gained from government official reports. The measurement of social inclusion orientation consists of two parts with 20 items each; one is ‘client- centered social inclusion orientation’ and the other is ‘community-centered social inclusion orientation’. As an internal factor, ‘cooperation and coordination among divisions’(6 items) was also employed.
One of findings indicates that the range of financial self-sufficiency is 6.9% to 92.6%; the percentages of public assistance beneficiaries 0.55% to 10.9%, and the percentages of the aged 4.3% to 30.2%. The results from multiple regression analyses showed that there were some evidence of, the impact of financial self-sufficiency on social inclusion orientation even after controlling location, staff size, and facility types etc. Furthermore, cooperation and coordination among divisions appeared to be a significant variable in the model. Findings implies that various welfare burden for local governments did appear to produce negative impact on social inclusion orientation among social service providers. In addition, cooperation and coordination among divisions within an organization appeared to significantly affect on social inclusion orientation.
