기업체 종사자의 사회적 낙인, 자기 낙인이 전문적 도움추구 의도에 미치는 영향: 자기가치감 수반성 타인승인의 조절된 매개효과 = Effects of public stigma and self-stigma on the intention to seek professional help by Employees: Moderated mediating effect of others’ approval accompanied with a sense of self-worth

In the rapid changing modern society, a lot of stress increase the psychological pain of business workers. However, many corporate workers avoid receiving counseling and psychotherapy, although it is necessary. This study examined whether one’s self-stigma mediates the effect of social stigma on the intention of seeking for professional help, and whether other’s approval of self-worth contingencies controls the mediating effect in this process, caring about corporate workers’ pursuit of professional help. In this research, the data from 221 employees of domestic companies were collected, and were analyzed as follows; mediating effect, moderating effect, and verification of adjusted mediating effect, proposed by Hayes (2017). According to the analysis, first, social stigma affected the intention of seeking professional help through the mediation of the self-stigma. Second, in the relationship between self-stigma and seeking for professional help, there was a moderating effect in which the others’ approval accompanied with a sense of self-worth further strengthened the negative effect of self-stigma. Third, the adjusted mediating effect was verified, as the indirect effect of social stigma on the intention of seeking for professional help through self-stigma differed according to the level of other’s approval of self-worth contingencies. In other words, the stronger the other’s approval, the more indirect negative effect of social stigma lowering the intention of pursuing professional help. increased, through the mediation of self-stigma. Finally, based on the results of this study, the implications for the actual consultation were described.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

급격한 변화가 일어나는 현대사회에서는 많은 스트레스로 인해 기업체 종사자의 심리적 고통이 높아지고 있다. 이에 상담 및 심리치료 등을 통한 정신건강 관리가 필요하지만 많은 기업체 종사자들이 상담 및 심리치료를 받기를 기피한다. 본 연구는 기업체 종사자의 전문적 도움추구에 관심을 가지고 사회적 낙인이 전문적 도움추구 의도에 미치는 영향을 자기 낙인이 매개하는지, 이 과정에서 자기가치감 수반성의 타인승인이 매개효과를 조절하는지 살펴보았다. 이를 위해 국내 소재 기업체 종사자 221명으로부터 자료를 수집하였으며, Hayes(2017)가 제안한 매개효과, 조절효과, 조절된 매개효과 검증 순으로 자료를 분석하였다. 분석결과, 첫째, 사회적 낙인이 자기 낙인을 매개로 전문적 도움추구 의도에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 자기 낙인과 전문적 도움추구 의도 간 관계에서 자기가치감 수반성의 타인승인이 자기 낙인의 부적 영향을 더욱 강화하는 조절효과가 나타났다. 셋째, 사회적 낙인이 자기 낙인을 통해 전문적 도움추구 의도에 미치는 간접효과가 자기가치감 수반성 타인승인의 수준에 따라 차이가 나타나 조절된 매개효과가 검증되었다. 즉, 자기가치감 수반성 타인승인이 높을수록, 사회적 낙인이 자기 낙인을 매개로 전문적 도움추구 의도를 낮추는 부적 간접효과가 더 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로 본 연구결과를 토대로 상담 실제에 대한 시사점을 기술하였다.
