This study aims to examine the effects of the employed disabled people's work environment on their life satisfaction and verify the moderating effect of job satisfaction on it. As the source materials, this paper used the original data of the 3rd Panel Survey of Employment for the Disabled (PSED) conducted in 2011. Among the sample subjects of 4,566, this study finally chose 1,148 employed workers' cases, from which independent businessmen, unemployed persons, and those who are not economically active are excluded. As the analysis method, to verify the mediation effect, this study adopted a verification tool developed by Hayes and Preacher in addition to a hierarchical multiple regression.
According to the result of the analysis, this paper gained the findings as below. First, among the variables related with the working disabled people’s work environment, the one that has a direct and significant effect on life satisfaction is experience of discrimination. Second, the independent variable that most significantly affects job satisfaction, the mediating variable, is safety in work environment. Third, among the independent variables, working hours, monthly income, welfare benefits, degree of consideration, status of safety, aptitude fitness, experience of discrimination, employment status, and company scale, all variables other than company scale affect life satisfaction significantly either directly or through a mediating variable.
To sum up, this study concludes that several aspects consisting work environment affect life satisfaction through the mediation of job satisfaction. Basing on the result, this study discusses some practical and political implications which are related to work environment of the disabled employees and are needed to be considered in order to enhance their life satisfaction as well as job satisfaction.
