초등학생이 지각한 어머니의 정서표현성, 기본심리욕구, 정서조절 및 공격성간의 구조적 관계

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구에서는 초등학생의 공격성을 이해하고, 그 원인을 파악하기 위한 목적으로 공격성의 영향요인을 투입-과정이라는 유기적인 관계로 설명하고 있는 일반 공격성 모형(General Aggression Model: GAM)(Anderson & Bushman, 2002)을 적용하였다. 또한 본 연구에서는 초등학생의 공격성을 주도, 반응 및 관계적 유형 등 다차원으로 설정하였고, 공격성의 원인으로 주양육자에 해당하는 어머니의 정서적 특성과 자녀의 정서적·심리적 특성에 주목하였다. 구체적으로 본 연구의 목적은 초등학생이 지각한 어머니의 정서표현성과 초등학생의 기본심리욕구, 정서조절 및 공격성 간의 구조적 관계를 탐색하는 것으로, 선행연구 및 관련이론 등을 참고하여서 이러한 변인들 간 관련성에 대한 3개의 연구모형을 비교ㆍ분석하였다. 본 연구의 분석대상은 D광역시와 K지역에 소재하는 총 8개 초등학교에 재학 중인 372명이었다. 연구결과, 연구모형 중 지각된 어머니의 긍정 및 부정 정서표현성이 초등학생의 기본심리욕구와 기능적ㆍ역기능적 정서조절을 통하여 공격성에 간접 영향을 주는 모형이 본 연구 자료에 가장 부합하는 것으로 파악되었다. 또한 모형 내 포함된 어머니의 정서변인 및 자녀의 정서변인과 기본심리욕구는 주도적 공격성을 약 38.1%, 반응적 공격성을 약 21.0%, 관계적 공격성을 약 37.0% 정도로 설명하였다. 더불어 지각된 어머니의 긍정 정서표현성과 초등학생의 기본심리욕구 및 기능적 정서조절은 공격성의 보호요인으로, 어머니의 부정 정서표현성과 초등학생의 역기능적 정서조절은 위험요인으로 작용하였다. 본 연구 결과, 보호요인보다는 위험요인이 공격성에 미치는 상대적 영향력은 더 큰 것으로 파악되었다. 마지막으로 본 연구 결과는 가정 및 교육적 장면에서 초등학생의 적응적 행동을 위한 부모뿐 아니라 자녀의 정서교육의 중요성을 시사하고, 초등학생의 공격성에 대한 교육적 개입을 위해 실질적인 정보를 제공할 수 있는 보다 종합적인 공격성 모형의 필요성을 제안하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study proposed the multidimensional aggression model for 5-6th graders, which would focus on the effects of mothers` and their children`s emotional variables on aggression. Specifically, this study tested the structural relationships among perceived maternal emotional expressiveness, basic psychological needs, emotion regulation and aggression using structural equation modeling(SEM) techniques. A sample of 372 students from eight elementary schools located in D city and K province were used. Based on literature review related to aggression, three research models were tested, and the first model including all possible paths between maternal emotional expressiveness and children`s emotional regulation, was chosen as the best model. In this model, the perceived maternal emotional expressiveness had significant indirect effects on aggression through the mediating variables such as basic psychological needs and emotional regulation. Also the positive maternal emotional expressiveness and emotional regulation had less effects on aggression compared to negative ones. These results implied that both positive and negative emotions should be effectively considered to lower or understand children`s aggression. Finally, the usefulness of GAM to explain cause and effects of aggression and suggestions for future research were discussed based on limitations of this study.
