추상 명사의 의미 분류 = Semantic Classification of Korean Abstract Nouns

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This paper deals with the semantic classification system of Korean abstract nouns in lexical semantics frame. Previous studies have been classified the meaning of nouns as a lexical item, they did not concern about multiple meanings of a word. So, they do not agree with classification status of abstract nouns. For example. text denoting nouns such as '책(book)' can be referred to abstract content and physical object, and speech act nouns such as '보고(report)' can be referred to activity and its content. Following Lyons (1977)' ontology, text denoting nouns can belong to first-order entities and speech act nouns can belong to second-order entities. Especially abstract nouns correspond to third-order entities. They can be used to refer to propositions and also syntactically co-occurred to complement clause. We argue that abstract nouns do not have complete semantic structure, so they should be modified by complement clause. Abstract nouns cannot be classified by extensional reference meaning. So, they should be classified by semantic characteristics and syntactic relations.
