Today, fishing village tourism has been faced with much difficulty from the reduced fishing ground, exhausted resources and opened fishing import markets. Thus, fishing village tourism can become an useful alternative to developing the local community, so as to raise great concerns among local residents and the government authorities. And given the fact that an increasing number of tourists become the concerns of fishing village tourism and participate in the village, it is expected that the fishing village tourism would surge, in the future.
The aim of this research thesis is to provide information conducive to operating fishing village tourism attraction, and propose the strategical suggestions to develop fishing village tourism in the future, as part of a bid to increase the demand in fishery tourism. To do it, this thesis analyzed the participatory motivations of fishing village tourists.
As an illustration, this research thesis handed out 350 copies of questionnaires to tourists who visited Jangho Fishing Village in Samchuk city, from July the 20th to August 10th, 2008 and recollected the 334 copies and selected the 330 copies as the significant analytic sampling data.
And, this thesis can find out an insight into revitalizing fishing village tourism, through the analysis on the difference of participatory motivation factors and the exploration on the problems along with the study on effects of such participatory motivation on the satisfaction, in accordance with demographical and substantial tourism patterns.
The result showed that there was significant difference in demographical patterns( gender/ age/ educational background/ vocation/ income/ residence) and tourism patterns( the frequency of visit/ the information sources/ co-visitor traits/stay period/ accommodation/ transportation means) and participatory motivation of fishing village tourism. And the analytic results on the relations and effects between the participatory motivation and satisfaction unveiled that the satisfaction of fishing village tourism was influenced by 'somatic and self-realization' motivation/ 'recreation' motivation/ 'fishing village experience' motivation and 'educational and cultural' motivation, among the five motivation factors.
But 'status' and 'reputation' motives didn't have the immediate influence on the satisfaction.
For participatory motives based on each age, people under their 20s expressed their concerns of fishing village experience motivation, while those in their 20s and 30s had educational and cultural motivations.
And, those in their 50s had interests in somatic and self-realization motivations, while those over their 40s and 60s have the concerns of status and reputation motivations.
It seems to be helpful in reviving fishing village tourism to create various factors right for learning with families and sharing the enjoyment with them and to establish the detailed marketing strategies, taking into the account that tourists in their 20s, 30s and 40s have frequently visited, and most of them enjoyed visiting together with their family, and they have had the high educational and cultural motivation.
But in spite of high satisfaction, a lot of problems were found. For example, 60.7% of respondents pointed out the absence of tourist and recreation facilities. And, 12.7, 10.7 and 10% of respondents complained of 'inconvenient transportation', 'lacking experience programs', and 'lacking public relations', respectively. And, 54.7% of them hoped that rest rooms, parking lots and accommodations would be improved. Those who wanted to introduce convenient facilities, rest rooms, and parking lots, accommodations and eateries have accounted for 85.3%.
The above-stated research survey proves that participatory motivation can make difference in accordance with traits of fishing village tourists. The effects of participatory motivation on the satisfaction of tourism made the difference.
Thus, it is deemed to subdivide market under the conditions of requests and concerns of tourists, in the process of developing and operating fishing village tourism, and at the same time, devise and improve fishing right village facilities and programs. And, it is inevitable to make the subsequent research on addressing the problems of the existing limited research.
