朝鮮時代 鄕校와 書院의 風水地理的 특성연구 : 광주광역시와 전라남도를 中心으로 = A Study on Feng Shui Geography of Hyanggyo and Seowon in the Joseon Dynasty - With Gwangju Metropolitan City and Jeollanam-do as the center-

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 논문은 조선시대에 건축되어진 전라남도와 광주광역시에 소재하고 있는 향교와 서원의 길흉을 양택풍수지리 이기법인 󰡔黃帝宅經󰡕와 󰡔陽宅三要󰡕을 통해 판단해 보았으며, 문제점을 찾고 해결책을 제시해보았다. 그리고 風水地理 형기론을 적용하여 이를 바탕으로 5개의 향교와 서원에 관한 건물의 배치와 좌향 그리고 주변 산세의 형태와 특색을 분석하여 활용도를 최대화 시킬 수 있는 방법을 찾아보았다.
본 논문에서 총 5개의 향교와 서원을 먼저 형기론을 적용하기 위해 주변 산세와 모습을 사진을 통해 기록하여 좋은 형태의 산세와 좋지 못한 지형의 모습을 관찰하였다. 형세론을 적용하기 위해서 큰 도로의 형상이 건물에 어떠한 형식으로 영향을 미치는지 확인해 보았고, 향교와 서원 주변 산세의 형상이 아름다워서 좋은 영향을 미치는지 또는 산세가 아름답지 못하여 향교와 서원에 악영향을 미치는지를 형기론으로 분석하였으며, 마지막으로 건물의 좌향을 확인하여 총체적인 분석을 이기론으로 하였다.
󰡔黃帝宅經󰡕와 󰡔陽宅三要󰡕에는 九星과 팔괘방위의 설명과 길흉을 통해 오행의 상생과 길흉의 형상이 잘 나타나 있다. 이 이론을 바탕으로 교육에 있어서 집중이 잘 되는 건물이 어떠한 형태인지에 대한 궁금증을 느끼고 있었으며 이러한 궁금증을 풀기 위하여 본 논문을 작성하였다.
교육의 문제는 인류의 숙제이며 과거부터 현재까지 끊임없이 풀어야 할 과제 중 하나로 볼 수 있다. 그래서 교육을 위한 건축물의 적용에 현실적인 어려움이 많았으므로 실제 건축물에 적용성이 높은 양택의 이론이 더 정밀해질 필요성이 요구되는 실정이다.
광주와 전남지방의 향교와 서원을 분석해 본 결과 다수의 향교와 서원의 형세로는, 뒤는 산으로 둘러 쌓여 있고 앞은 물이 흐르는 배산임수의 형태로 되어 있으며, 또한 형기적으로 뒤는 높고 앞이 낮은 전저후고 형태로 좋은 형태를 이루고 있었다. 하지만 후대에 건설된 도로나 주변의 큰 건물로 인한 지형과 환경의 변화에 따른 지리적 손해를 보게 되는 형태가 발견되었다. 이를 통해 문제가 있는 부분은 좋은 기운이 올 수 있도록 ‘趨全避闕 增高益下’ 해주는 방법을 본 연구를 통해 제시하였고, 이를 개선한다면 향교와 서원이 현대에도 잘 사용될 수 있다고 생각된다.
다만 風水地理 이론 중에서 양택을 대표하는 이기론인 󰡔黃帝宅經󰡕과 󰡔陽宅三要󰡕 두 가지 이론으로만 적용하여 판단하였다. 그래서 보다 다양한 이론을 적용하지 못한 한계가 있으므로 다음 연구에 숙제로 남겨놓았다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study investigated good or bad lucks of Hyanggyo and Seowon in Gwangju and Jeollanamdo which were built in Joseon Dynasty through 󰡔Hwangjenaegyeong󰡕 and 󰡔Yangtaeksamyo󰡕, which were related to Yigi of Pungsu-Chiri. This study tried to solve the problem and give a solution. It applied Hyeonggi of Pungsu-Chiri to analyzing shapes and characteristics of neighboring mountains and positions and directions to the left for five Hyanggyos and Seowons in order to maximize the use of them.
This study recorded near mountains with photos and looked into good or bad geographies in order to apply Hyeonggi to the five Hyanggyos and Seowons. It investigated how the shapes of big roads influenced surrounding buildings in order to apply morphology and analyzed how good or bad the influence of the shapes of mountains near Hyanggyos and Seowons was through Hyeonggi and checked the direction to the left of the buildings for comprehensive analysis with Yigi.
󰡔Hwangjenaegyeong󰡕 and 󰡔Yangtaeksamyo󰡕 showed coexistence of the Five Elements and the shape of good or bad lucks by explaining Guseong and Palgwae directions. Tthis study is based on it and wonders what shape buildings that could grab more attentions and solve the wonder.
Education is a man's eternal task and one of the challenges that should be solved from the past to the present. As it has been difficult to apply buildings to education, this study investigated the Yangtaek of Pungsu-Chiri, which needs to be more specific in order to apply it to real buildings.
As a result of analyzing Hyanggyos and Seowons in Gwangju and Jeollanamdo, most of them had mountains in the front, while streams in the back. The back of them was high, while the front was low. However, the changes in topography and environment near roads or buildings which were built later caused some geographical damages. This study gave the way for ‘Chujeonpigwal Jeunggoikha’, which means call good spirit to problems. Hyanggyo and Seowon could be well used in the present when it would be better.
This study just applied 󰡔Yangtaeksamyo󰡕 and 󰡔Hwangjenaegyeong󰡕, which is Yigi representing Yangtaek. Therefore, a question is pending because many theories were not applied.
