신경퇴행성 질환자 부양자의 부양부담에 관한 연구 : 알츠하이머병과 파킨슨병을 중심으로 = Caregiver Burden for Neurodegenerative Disability: Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s Diseases

The purpose of this study was to examine caregiver burden utilizing 5-multidimensional variables with an emphasis on demographic features and results of neuropsychological and neurological evaluations of patients with Neurodegenerative Diseases. We also investigated whether patient diagnosis produced a difference in caregiver burden and which characteristics of both patient and caregiver affected the burden. Data from 144 outpatients with a diagnosis of AD or PD residing in Busan were examined. Participants were asked to complete a set of questionnaires and the following statistical measurements were utilized: Χ² chi-square, ANCOVA, and stepwise regression analysis. The results are as follows. First, the caregiver burden of Alzheimer’s disease was higher in ‘Time-Dependence Burden’, ‘Physical Burden’, ‘Social Burden’ and ‘Developmental Burden’ than the caregiver burden for Parkinson’s disease. Second, the caregiver burden of patients with Alzheimer’s disease was affected by variables such as patient’s level of functioning, daycare time, support period, economic status, and health status of caregivers. Finally, patient’s gender, physical functioning, and daily care time as well as the education and economic level of the caregiver had significant effects on caregiver burden for Parkinson’s disease.
