This thesis aims to provide Korea with a desirable cleaner technology innovation model for mitigating climate change impact. Climate change is a serious threat but opportunity for the international community like a double-edged sword. Any country cannot be free from this matter if it is dependent on fossil fuels, which play a role in increase of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. When tackling climate change issue, each country sets its unique climate strategies because the level of impact is different. Yet, a successful climate change policy for adaptation and mitigation provides a country with competitive advantages such as unique low emission technologies, systematic social framework and security of energy supply and demand. In particularity, low carbon technology plays a pivotal role in mitigating GHG emissions with expanding more capability for coping with further uncertainty. Such the strength can be gained through a systemic process of low carbon technology innovation, rather than ‘linear model’ of technological innovation. In the process of pursuing innovation systems approach, some barriers such as high leaning costs, or failure of gaining public and private support. In the sense, Korea could figure out several upcoming challenges and opportunities in shifting to low carbon technology innovation after analyzing Denmark’s ‘non-linear’ model of technological innovation, particularly in wind energy technology. Then, Korea’s lack of capacity for interaction among involved innovation actors can be supplemented through introduction of a properly set environmental regulation.
