This study tried phenomenological approach to explore a new method for counseling in Oriental viewpoint. This trial has been done in terms of transpersonal psychology, in particular, developed since the early 1970s in the U.S.A., but this study examined phenomenological approach in counseling and psychotherapy.
The mind and its action are important issues in the Oriental thoughts and psychology. Therefore, they play important roles in human living. Many spiritual practices have been concerned with them. Therefore, this study dealth with them in terms of meditation and counseling practices.
Krama, which is the cause of the action of mind, is studied closely. Reaction (sankhara), the cause of karma, is also studied, which consists of desire and resistance. The phenomenological solutions on the action. The methods which are adapted to counseling are examined. In conclusion, the main cause of the action which mind does is desire and resistance. The method which is set free from the action of mind is meditation. By practicing meditation, we, humankind, can come to the ultimate peace and freedom.
