This study was conducted to investigate the effects of an anger control program using movie and ordinary anger control program on the parents' level of anger, parent-efficacy and child-rearing stress.
The participants were 21 mothers who fell within the top 35% in the score of an Novaco Anger scale among the 238 parents. Out of 21 mothers, 7 were assigned to the experimental group Ⅰ(an anger control program using movie ), 7 in the experimental group Ⅱ(ordinary anger control program) and 7 in the control group(no treatment group). The experimental group Ⅰ received 8 sessions(120 minutes per session) of an anger control program using movis. The experimental group Ⅱ received 8 sessions(120 minutes per session) of ordinary anger control program. No treatment was given to the control group. In order to measure the effects of the study Novaco Anger Scale, Parenting Stress Index(PSI), and ‘Perceived Parenting Competence' were administered.
The results are as follows:
First, anger control program groups' anger level and parent's child-rearing stress level significantly decreased compared with that of the control group. And the parents' efficacy of the anger control program groups' was no significant compared with that of the control group .
Second, there was no significant difference between the anger control program using movie group and the ordinary anger control program group.
According to the result of this study, the anger control program would be effective in reducing anger and parents' child-rearing stress, and there was no significant difference between the two groups.
