성학대 피해 아동의 생존과정 = The Survival Process of Sexually Abused Children

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to develop a theory about the survival process of sexually abused children. Methods: This study used a grounded theory methodology to explore the processes by which children escape sexual abuse. The subjects of this study were six victims of sexual abuse, 11 to 14 years old, who were living in a shelter. Results: The data revealed 124 concepts, which were classified into 26 subcategories and 14 superordinate categories. The participants were classified into three types: the scar-embracing type, the time-dependence type, and the hide-and-let-it-be type. Conclusions: The findings of the study lend support to using strength-based practical methods with children who have been victims of sexual abuse.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 성학대 피해아동의 생존과정에 대한 실체이론을 개발하여 치료현장에서 강점관점으로 성학대 피해아동들을 위한 개입의 중요 근거를 제시하는데 그 목적이 있다. ‘성학대 피해아동의 생존과정은 어떠한가?’의 연구문제를 가지고, Strauss와 Corbin(1990)의 근거이론방법을 적용하여 분석하였다. 연구 참여자는 성학대 피해 이후 D 지역의 아동보호전문기관 쉼터에 거주하고 있는 만 11세-14세 사이의 아동 6명을 대상으로 심층 인터뷰하였다. 연구결과, 총 124개의 개념과 26개의 하위범주 그리고 14개의 상위범주로 유목화 하였다. 생존과정의 핵심범주는 ‘온 힘 다해 버팀목을 부여잡고 수렁에서 벗어나기 위해 발 버둥침’으로 나타났다. 생존과정 단계를 분석한 결과 ‘성학대 소용돌이에 놓임’, ‘벗어나고 싶음’. ‘온힘을 다해 발버둥침’, ‘자유로워지기 시작함’으로 나타났다. 생존과정 유형은 ‘상처끌어안기형’, ‘시간의존형’, ‘숨기고살기형’의 세 가지 유형으로 구분되었다. 전체적으로 피해아동들의 생존과정을 지지하는 가장 큰 버팀목은 가족과 친구로 나타났다. 본 연구결과를 통해 아동 성학대 전문가들에게 성학대 피해아동의 생존과정에 대한 실제적 이론 구축 및 정책적, 임상적 개입에 중요한 기초자료를 제공하는 데 의의가 있다. 연구결과에 기반하여 실천적, 정책적 개입 방안을 논의하였다.
