This study was carried out to investigate the effects of the dance class on the change of the educational self-efficacy and the social skills for the middle school students based on the self-efficacy theory . The aim of this study was to develop the program to improve the educational self-efficacy and the social skills and alter the dance class in the school education.
The participants for this study were consisted of 82 female students who were a first-year student from two middle schools in K city at random and were divided into two groups; the dance class group (n=41) and the non-dance class group (n=41). The questionnaire was distributed among the participants to survey the effect of dance class on the educational self-efficacy and social skills. The data were processed using the exploratory factor analysis, two-way analysis of variance, and the simple main effect analysis.
The effect on the dance class for the middle school students on the educational self-efficacy and the social skills were concluded as follow. First, the educational self-efficacy of the students was significantly different according to the dance class, the confidence, the self-control efficacy, and the preference of the task level. Second, the social skills of the students were significantly different as the presence of the dance class. Also the cooperative ability, the sympathy, the self-control ability and their insistence make significant difference to the self-efficacy and the social skills.
