교회교육에서의 다중지능계발 프로그램 활용방안에 관한 연구 = A Study on the Use of Multi-Intelligence Development Program in the Church Education

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구의 목적은 현재 일반교육에서 뿐만 아니라 기독교 교육에서도 많은 관심을 가지고 있는 다중지능이론을 어떻게 교회교육과 접목시킬 수 있는가를 연구하는 것이다. 보다 구체적으로, 이 연구는 연구자에 의해 설계된 교회학교 다중지능계발 프로그램인 M.I.D. 프로그램 즉 "Dream making project"을 교회 학교 현장에서 활용할 수 있도록 제공하고 있다.
이 연구는 세부분으로 구성되어있다. 첫째, 다중지능을 교회교육에 접목하기 위한 기초 작업으로 성경에 나타난 다중지능의 원리를 탐색하였다. 또한 성경의 인물 가운데 모세와 바울의 다중지능을 분석하였다. 둘째, 다중지능검사의 창시자 하워드 가드너의 다중지능이론을 교육심리학적 전문 서적들을 토대로 고찰하였다. 셋째, 2012년부터 전국적으로 실시되는 주5일 수업제에 대비하는 학교와 교회의 토요학교들에 대한 정보와 현황 자료를 시사뉴스와 신문, 신앙전문서적, 인터넷 검색 등을 통하여 조사하였다. 넷째, 본 연구에서는 다중지능이론을 활용한 교육프로그램을 개발하였다. 특히 이 프로그램은 앞으로 교회 토요학교에서 적용 가능 할 수 있도록 설계되었다. 이 프로그램의 전제는 신앙과 직업적성의 발견이며, 프로그램의 제목은 “Dream Making Project”로 정하였다. 이 프로젝트는 교회학교 청소년들이 하나님께서 주신 달란트를 발견하고 계발시켜 착하고 충성된 종으로서의 삶을 살아야 함을 교육하기 위한 프로그램이다.
마지막으로 본 연구를 수행하며 느낀점 중에서, 특히 다중지능 이론이 교회교육 현장에서 빛을 발하기 위해 필요한 몇 가지를 제언을 하였다.
첫째, 다중지능에 대한 심도 있는 기독교교육학적인 연구가 필요하다.
둘째, 교회교육 현장에 있는 교역자들과 교사들이 다중지능 이론에 대한 이해와 훈련이 필요하다.
셋째, 학생들의 다양성을 존중해야 한다. 학생들의 다양성을 존중하여, 설교나 교수․학습 방법에 다양한 지능을 강점으로 가진 학생들이 집중할 수 있는 다중적인 방법이 동원되어야 한다.
넷째, 다중지능 검사를 통하여 하나님께서 학습자들에게 주신 달란트가 무엇인지 깨닫게 해야 한다.
마지막으로 실존지능 즉 영성지능에 관한 연구이다. 가드너는 여덟 가지의 지능을 발표하고 새로운 지능에 대한 가능성을 열어놓았다. 그 가운데 하나가 실존지능이며, 가드너가 제시한 지능의 여덟 가지 준거에도 가장 부합하다. 그러나 기존 지능과의 상당한 거리감 때문에 아직 정식지능으로 인정하지 않고 있다. 이 부분에 대한 연구는 우리가 지속적으로 탐구해야 할 과제로 남겨져있다. 성서학, 신학, 기독교교육학과 기독교심리학 등을 융합하는 학제 간 연구가 활발히 진행되어 영성지능이 다중지능의 아홉 번째 지능이 되도록 후속 연구들이 많이 나와 줘야 할 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this thesis is to seek a way of utilizing multi-intelligence development(MID) program in the church education. More specifically, the study also presents so-called “Dream making project,” a pilot MID program designed by the researcher that can be implemented in the church school setting.
This study consists of three parts. First, multi-intelligence was reviewed in the biblical perspective. Three points were made here: 1)Biblically multi-intelligence is understood as the divine gifts. 2)The Bible says it is our responsibility that we are to develop the gifts given by God to the fullness of its capacity. 3) two figures, Moses and Paul, who possessed multi-intelligence in the Bible were analyzed according to 8 types of multi-intelligence.
Second, another theoretical background of multi-intelligence is educational psychology. It deals with three emphases: 1)definitions were clarified between intelligence and multi-intelligence. 2)eight types and the attributes of multi-intelligences were explained. 3)the correlation between multi-intelligence and learning ability was described, and furthermore the results of multi-intelligence test and career development were also related.
Third, the author developed a pilot MID program that takes advantage of multiple intelligence theory. This program was designed in order to implement at the church school, especially in the Saturday Class. It can help student find their own vocational aptitude through faith education. The "Dream Making Project" is it. The project has it sub-programs to train the church school’s teenagers who are encouraged to find their talents given by God. However, the ultimate goal of finding individual’s multi-intelligence is to live the life of God’s servant to the fullness.
Finally, the study made some suggestions in terms of the use of MID program in the church. First, the church must actively strive to use of multiple intelligence in order to make students active multi-player of Lord.
Second, since a new wave is approaching to the Korean church school in 2012. Korean educational authority announced last year, “5 days a week school system will be effective in 2012. Due to this change, the church has been forced to open Saturday Class for which the Dream making program was invented.
Third, the church school must help teenagers discover their talent and aptitude by using multiple intelligence test. Every one has both strong and weak intelligence. The test will help the students find their strength and weakness so that they could have a better understanding of themselves. It enables them to live with a clearer vision and objective for the future.
A new policy of 5 days School System will bring a big change to Korean society as well as to religious educational institutions. Korean Protestant churches have operated Sunday schools for more than 120 years. However, due to the new policy, the church is forced to extend its school days and it could cover the entire weekend. Neither public schools nor church schools haven't established their Saturday programs yet. Students will have more leisure time. Many private tutoring agencies have various and excellent academic programs in order to enforce the scholastic ability. Thus the church shouldn't follow or compete with the private tutoring agencies. The church’s Saturday school must have something different or distinctive program from other alternative weekend school.
Fourth, according to multiple intelligence theory, students should realize their talents. Talents are directly related to jobs. We select the jobs by way of knowing our talents. Multi-intelligence test is a good tool to recognize what our talents are and what our strong or weak intelligence are. To know our multi-intelligence well enough is to know how to develop and live my career in the future. We are now facing transition of the recognition. That is, the church does not necessarily limit its role to teach faith but to career development.
Lastly, Howard Gadner had announced eight intelligences and open possibility about new intelligence. The new intelligence is Spiritual intelligence or existential intelligence which meets most the Gadner’s criteria. It is our task to continuously discover it. More interdisciplinary studies among biblical and theological studies, Christian education and Christian psychology, etc. must actively be conducted in order to identify ninth intelligence.
