The purpose of this study is to investigate the students' interest and satisfaction about the activities of Gwangju Metropolitan City Korean traditional Music Orchestra, and to explore the educational value and significance of the orchestra, and to provide and activation plan.
For the study, 76 students from two schools in the Gwangju Metropolitan City where the Korean traditional orchestra is being performed were participated in the questionnaire survey and interviews were conducted with 4 students selected by the teacher 's recommendation.
The results of the research are as follows. First, the interest of music of students in the Korean traditional music orchestra was high in proportion, but the interest in music lessons in school curriculum subjects was relatively low. Second, most students' interest in Korean music was high. It shows that students like Korean traditional music and are more interested in Korean music than Western music. However, considering that the response rate to want to find out more about musical knowledge about Korean traditional music is a low response rate, it seems that students are more interested in playing Korean traditional music than the theoretical interest in Korean traditional music. Third, the interest of Korean traditional music orchestra activity was high. Especially, the majority of students responded that the performance was the most rewarding and enjoyable time, and they answered that they felt the beauty of Korean traditional music by playing Korean traditional music. Fourth, the satisfaction level of Korean traditianal traditional music orchestra class was generally high.
Fifth, it is the result of surveying the satisfaction with their music ability. 'Musical ability' was the highest point of improvement in the activities, and 'Musical instrument ability' was the highest point in the musical part. Finally, it is the satisfaction rate of the influence of the Korean traditional music orchestra activity on students' life. They answered that these activities has helped to understand and play music through my their activities, and it will help their future life.
Therefore, interest in music, interest in Korean traditional music, interest in Korean traditional music orchestra was high through the activity of Korean traditional music orchestra. Satisfaction with the class of Korean traditional music orchestra, satisfaction with own music ability, satisfaction with the influence of individual life through the activities of Korean traditional music orchestra was generally high.
Through the results of the study, the plan of activation of Korean traditional music orchestra was divided into the management plan, teaching plan and economic support plan.
On the operational side, first, the environment should be created so that students can freely play the musical instruments. Second, students should be provided with rewarding experience through the activities of Korean traditional music orchestra. Third, students should be given responsibilities by providing some roles in the Korean traditional music orchestra. Fourth, students should be supported to perform the Korean traditional music orchestra activities continuously after middle school. Fifth, changes in parents and school perceptions are needed. Lastly, teachers should develop their competencies and try to provide effective guidance to students. On the class side, first, students should be instructed to play the desired song. When selecting a song, ask students the song which they want to play and select the song to suit the level of difficulty. Second, knowledge education related to Korean traditional music orchestra is needed. When accompanied by instrumental education and proper knowledge education, the attitude of playing the instrument will be different, and the ability to interpret and play the score will be improved. In terms of economic support, I proposed a plan to increase the support of national and local community for middle school Korean traditional music orchestra. If stable financial support is available, good programs and high-quality performances will be able to appear, and students will be able to receive high quality education.
Through this study, it should become a chance to re-recognize the influence of Korean traditional music education to adolescent students and the influence of Korean traditional music orchestra activities on students. In addition, I hope that it will help Korean traditional music education and Korean traditional music orchestra to be activated by the desirable Korean traditional music education being proud of our national music to establish our national identity.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 연구는 광주광역시 국악관현악단 활동에 대한 학생들의 흥미도 및 만족도를 조사하여 국악관현악단이 나타내는 교육적 가치와 의의를 탐색하고 활성화 방안을 제공하는 것을 목적으로 한다.
연구를 위해 광주광역시에서 국악관현악단이 시행되고 있는 두 학교의 학생 76명을 대상으로 질문지조사를 실시하였고 교사의 추천에 의해 선정된 4명의 학생들을 대상으로 면접조사를 실시하였다.
중학교 국악관현악단 활동에 대한 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 국악관현악단 활동을 하고 있는 학생들의 음악에 대한 흥미는 높은 비율로 나타났지만, 학교 교과과목으로 행해지는 음악수업에 대한 흥미는 상대적으로 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 대부분 학생들의 국악에 대한 흥미는 높은 것으로 나타났다. 국악을 좋아하고 관심 있어 하며, 국악을 서양음악보다 흥미로워하는 응답을 볼 수 있었다. 하지만 국악에 대한 음악적 지식을 더 찾아보고 알아보고 싶다는 응답이 낮은 것으로 볼 때, 학생들은 국악에 대한 이론적 흥미보다 국악기를 연주하는 흥미가 더 높은 것으로 보인다. 셋째, 국악관현악단 활동에 대한 흥미는 높은 것으로 나타났다. 특히 대다수의 학생들이 공연활동을 가장 보람되고 즐거운 시간이라고 응답하였으며, 국악을 연주해봄으로써 국악의 아름다움을 느낀다고 응답하였다. 넷째, 국악관현악단 수업에 대한 만족도는 전반적으로 높은 결과로 나타났다. 다섯째, 자신의 음악능력에 대한 만족도를 조사한 결과이다. 활동을 통해 특별히 향상된 점으로 ‘음악성’이 가장 높게 나타났으며, 음악적 부분에서 향상되었다고 느끼는 점으로는 ‘악기연주 능력’이 가장 높게 나타났다. 마지막으로 국악관현악단 활동이 학생들의 삶에 미치는 영향에 대한 만족도 결과이다. 활동을 통해 음악을 이해하고 연주하는 데에 도움을 받았으며, 이러한 활동은 앞으로도 삶에 도움이 될 것이라고 응답하였다. 따라서 국악관현악단 활동을 통해 음악에 대한 흥미, 국악에 대한 흥미, 국악관현악단에 대한 흥미가 높았으며, 국악관현악단 수업에 대한 만족, 자신의 음악능력에 대한 만족, 국악관현악단 활동을 통한 개인 삶의 영향에 대해 만족은 대체적으로 높은 것으로 나타났다.
연구결과를 통한 국악관현악단 활성화 방안으로 운영방안, 수업방안, 경제적 지원 측면으로 나누어 제시하였다.
운영적인 측면에서 첫째, 학생들이 악기 연주활동을 자유롭게 할 수 있도록 환경을 조성해야한다. 둘째, 국악관현악단 활동을 통해 학생들에게 보상 경험을 제공해 주어야 한다. 셋째, 학생들에게 국악관현악단 활동 업무를 제공하여 책임을 부여해야 한다. 넷째, 학생들이 중학교 이후에도 국악관현악단 활동을 계속적으로 할 수 있도록 지원해야한다. 다섯째, 학부모와 학교 인식의 변화가 필요하다. 마지막으로 담당교사는 역량을 발전시켜 학생들에게 효과적인 지도를 할 수 있도록 노력하여야 한다. 수업 측면에서 첫째, 학생들이 원하는 곡을 연주하도록 지도해야한다. 곡을 선정할 때, 학생들이 연주해 보고 싶은 곡을 조사하고 적절한 난이도에 맞게 곡을 선정하여 지도하도록 한다. 둘째, 국악관현악단과 관련된 지식교육이 필요하다. 기악교육과 적절한 지식교육이 함께 제공되었을 때, 악기를 연주하는 자세가 달라질 것이며 악보를 해석하고 연주하는 능력은 더욱 향상될 수 있을 것이다. 경제적 지원 측면에서 중학교 국악관현악단을 위해 국가와 지역사회의 지원이 증가하도록 요구하는 방안을 제시하였다. 안정된 재정적 지원이 확보된다면 좋은 프로그램과 양질의 연주가 나올 수 있을 것이며, 학생들이 질 높은 교육을 받을 수 있을 것이다.
이러한 연구를 통해 국악교육이 청소년기 학생들에게 미치는 영향, 국악관현악단 활동이 학생들에게 미치는 영향에 대해 재인식하는 계기가 되어야 한다. 또한, 우리 민족 음악에 대해 자긍심을 가지고 민족의 주체성 확립을 위해 바람직한 국악 교육이 이루어져 국악교육과 국악관현악단의 활성화에 도움이 되기를 기대해 본다.
