This study aims to examine the effects of a plyometric training program on physical fitness ad isokinetic strength in boy taekwondo gyeorugi players in high school and the following results were obtained.
1. For the changes in physical fitness, while the plyometric group showed positive effects on strength, endurance, flexibility, cadiovascular endurance, agility, and power, the existing exercise group had no significant difference, suggesting that plyometric was an effective exercise program for taekwondo gyeorugi players.
2. For the changes in isokinetic strength, the plyometric group showed a significant difference in the right and left extensor and flexor of peak torque of , indicating positive effects. The right and left extensor and flexor of peak torque per weight also had a significant difference, indicating positive effects. The findings suggested the effectiveness of a plyometric training program in taekwondo gyeorugi players.
Based on the results, continuous plyometric training improved physical fitness and had a positive effect on helping performance in taekwondo gyeorugi players. When plyometric training was applied to foot technique which was main attack technique to improve jump or agility, there was a significant difference in isokinetic strength, suggesting positive effects. If further research applies interval training and circuit training along with plyometric training, taekwondo gyeorugi players' performance will be greatly improved.
