    This is study was to investigate the effects of high fat diet and exercise intensity on plasma insulin, glucose and plasma lipids in Sprague-Dawley rat. The 40 rats were randomly divided into 5 groups: control group (CON), high fat diet group (HF), high fat diet+low-intensity exercise group (HFLE, 22 m/min, 60 min, 6 days/week), high fat diet+moderate-intensity exercise group (HFME, 26 m/min, 51 min), high fat diet+high-intensity exercise group (HFHE, 30 m/min, 46 min). After 4-week high fat diet and endurance exercise training, the lipid profiles, insulin, glucose concentrations were determined in plasma. Plasma TC levels significantly increased in HF group compared to CON, and the exercise groups (HFLE, HFME, HFHE) were significantly low compared to HF group. The HDL-C level of HF group was significantly lower than the general group, and the three exercise groups significantly increased compared to the HF group. The TG concentration significantly increased in HF group compared to CON, and the exercise groups (HFLE, HFME, HFHE) significantly decreased compared to CON and HF group. Plasma glucose during OGTT in HF was significantly greater than that in CON, and plasma glucose in three exercise groups were significantly lower that those in CON and HF group at 30 and 60 min, respectively. Plasma insulin levels in three exercise (EX) groups were significantly decreased in 60min than that in HF. This study suggests that 4 weeks of high-fat diet caused insulin resistance on the whole body, and 4 weeks endurance exercise was shown effect in improving the blood lipid and insulin sensitivity. The differences of exercise intensities in the exercise groups were effective in decreasing the glucose, but did not have a significant difference in decreasing insulin. Therefore, in order to improve the blood lipid and insulin sensitivity, the exercise period and volume are the important factors, rather than the exercise intensity.
