TV 프로그램에 재현되는 이주여성의 문화변용 = The Content-analysis on the Media Representation of Immigrant Women`s Acculturation

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The previous research on the media representation of immigrant women have shown that TV described immigrant women as the target of acculturation, but failed to find out what types of acculturation have been introduced in its portrayals. Thus this research attempts to demonstrate the types of acculturation imposed on immigrant women in the media representation under the academic guidance of Berry``s acculturation strategies. For this purpose, we content-analyzed the TV programs(KBS, MBC, SBS) relevant to immigrant women aired from Jan. 1st, 2012 through Dec. 31st, 2012. Among them, we selected 88 episodes in terms of the relevance. The results found that assimilation type has been pervasive in the media representation about immigrant women(64.8%); integration type has taken the portion of 30.4 %; and that segregation types showed only 1.1% of total media representation. Also, the data led us to another findings that when integration type induced to immigrant women in the media representation, their original culture were more frequently portrayed(t(85)=5.081, p=.000) in the positive way(t(85)=3.187, p=.002).
