어린이집 시설유형과 성별에 따른 만 2세 영아의 의사소통능력 발달 비교연구 = Difference in Communication Ability by the Type of Child-care Center and Infants` Sex - Targeting Two Year Old Infants-

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of the current study was to reveal how communication abilities, defined in the third revision of standard child-care curriculum, of two-year-old infant were different depending on sex and the types of child-care facilities (national care center, private general care center, and private Seoul care center). The subjects were 200 four-year-old infants registered for the child-care centers in Seoul. The research instrument developed by Shin and Joung(2014) was used for participants’ communication abilities. The results from the analyses were as follows: First, the difference of communication abilities depending on the types of child-care facilities were statistically significant with low effect size. Except from speaking, scores of listening, reading, and writing were significantly different from type of facilities. Listening and writing scores were significantly higher in national and private Seoul child-care center than private general one; and reading scores were significantly higher in national child-care center than private general one. Next, male infants obtained higher scores across all the sub-domains of communication abilities than female infants. Those differences, however, were not statistically significant. The research results were meaningful in identifying the current situation of infants’ development of communication abilities depending on gender and the type of child-care facilities.
