특성화고 직업영어 교재 개발: 현장 시범 적용 효과 분석을 중심으로 = Development of Vocational English Textbooks for Vocational High School Students: Focused on the Effects of Field Application

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study was to develop Vocational English textbooks based on the analysis focused on the effects of field application for the vocational high school students. Vocational English textbooks were developed in nine areas based on the urgent needs among 5 fields of vocational high schools.
The nine Vocational English textbooks were developed based on the curriculum respectively. The curriculum was developed according to the review of job analysis, National Competency Standards, the current status of related department at vocational high schools, review of related materials in each area, job information, job specifications at the entry level for vocational high school graduates, and discussions with industry people.
In addition, the Vocational English textbooks were developed on the basis of the developed format. The vocational high school students were taught with the textbooks for the filed application at the 11 vocational high schools for about one month. The pre- and post-tests were conducted to investigate the effects of application of Vocational English textbooks. The tests were focused on examining interests on General English, Vocational English, and self-efficacy on Vocational English. Finally, several suggestions were discussed regarding the use of the developed Vocational English textbooks.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구의 목적은 특성화고 학생들이 직업생활에서 필수적으로 요구되는 영어능력을 기를 수 있도록 직업영어 교재를 현장에 시범 적용함으로써 그 효과를 분석하고, 현장 시범 적용의 결과를 반영하여 최종적으로 직업영어 교재를 개발하는 데 있다. 특성화 고등학교 5개 계열에서 교재 개발의 필요성이 시급한 총 9개 분야(원예조경, 기계, 전기, 전자, 건축, 금융, 유통․물류, 해양생산, 조리 서비스)를 선정하여, 특성화고 학생들이 실제 산업 현장에서 해당 분야의 영어를 활용할 수 있도록 하기 위하여 직업영어 교재를 개발하였다.
각 분야별 직업영어 교육과정은 1) 기존의 직무 분석 자료 및 국가직무능력표준(NCS) 검토, 2) 특성화고 관련 학과 개설 현황 분석, 3) 국내외 관련 교재내용 검토, 4) 해당 분야 직업정보 조사, 5) 특성화고 졸업생의 직무 수행 내용 분석, 6) 분야별 산업체 인사와의 협의를 통해 개발되었다. 분야별 직업영어 교육과정은 목표, 내용, 교수․학습 방법, 평가, 교과서의 개발과 활용으로 구성되었다. 그리고 분야별 교육과정에 기초하여 특성화고 직업영어 교재 구성 체제에 따라 교재가 개발되었다. 직업영어 교재는 대단원, 중단원, 소단원으로 크게 구성되었으며, 소단원에서는 학습목표, 학습내용, pre-test, warming-up, 관계 지식, activity, 용어 정리를 포함하였다. 그리고 중단원에서는 학생들이 exercise를 통해 학습한 내용을 평가할 수 있도록 하였으며, 본문 내용에 포함된 단어를 한글과 영어로 표기한 index도 제시하였다.
또한 직업영어 교재의 현장 적용을 위하여 특성화고 영어 수업모델 선진화 연구학교로 지정된 16개 학교 가운데 9개 분야의 직업영어 교재 적용이 가능한 11개 학교를 대상으로 약 1개월에 걸쳐 수업시간을 활용하여 교재를 적용하였다. 직업영어 교재의 효과성은 특성화고 학생들의 일반영어에 대한 흥미도, 직업영어에 대한 흥미도, 직업영어 활용의 효능감을 중심으로 교재 적용 전과 후를 조사하여 비교․분석하였다. 아울러 학생들이 직업영어 교재에 대해 어떻게 생각하는지에 대한 인식도 파악하였다. 직업영어 교재의 현장 시범 적용 결과, 직업영어 교재를 적용하기 이전보다 학생들의 일반영어 흥미도, 직업영어 흥미도, 직업영어 활용 효능감이 증가한 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 학생들의 직업영어 교재 내용 이해도는 전반적으로 보통 수준인 것으로 나타났으나, 분야에 따라 약간의 차이를 보였다. 이러한 현장 적용 분석 결과는 학생들의 흥미를 유발하고 현장 활용도가 높은 직업영어 교재가 될 수 있도록 직업영어 교재 개발 과정에 반영되었다.
