This study was designed to identify the relationship between stressful life events and health care behaviors of industrial workers.
The subjects for this study were 176 industrial workers employed in five electronic and machine manufacturing located in Kwang-ju city.
The data were collected by using qustionnaire from September 13th to 18th 1999.
The instruments, which were used for this study, were the Stressful Life Events Measure Instrument by Moon and to measures the Health Care Behaviors by Ahn's question.
The data were analysed by t-test, ANOVA, and Pearson's Correlation Coefficient.
The results of this study were as follows:
1. The mean average score for stressful life events was 296.2 with a range between the lowest 104.0 to the highest 367.0. Of each factor of the stressful events, death factor(4.5) showed the highest mean score and religion factor (2.97) showed the lowest mean score.
2. The total mean score for health care behavior was 76.4 with a range between the lowest 44 to the highest 115. Of each factor of the health care behavior, the control of illegal and habitual drug in order (3,17) factor showled the highest mean score and regular dental examination factor (1.59) showed the lowest mean score.
3. There were no significant differences in relationship between general characteristics of subjects and stressful life events, health care behavior.
4. In relationship between stress life events and health care behavior, health care behavior was significantly related death factor(r=-0.17762, p=0.0184) and illegal act factor(r=-0.23130, p=0.0020) of stress life events.
