사설 교육기관의 조기영어교육 실태 분석

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구의 목적은 사설 교육기관의 조기영어교육에 대한 실태를 조사, 분석하여 문제점을 파악하고 이를 바탕으로 사설 교육기관의 조기영어교육 프로그램의 바람직한 방향과 내용을 제시하는데 있다. 질문지는 59개의 항목으로 이루어져 있고 56명의 사설 교육기관의 조기영어교육 담당교사들이 질문지에 응답하였다.
결과는 다음과 같다.
첫째, 대부분의 사설 교육기관의 조기영어교육 담당교사들은 4년제 대학을 졸업하였으며, 영어를 전공하거나 영어교사 자격증을 소유하고 있는 교사는 많지 않은 것으로 나타났다.
둘째, 대부분의 교사들이 재교육을 받지 않았으며, 유학이나 어학연수의 경험이 있는 교사도 많지 않은 것으로 나타났다.
셋째, 교사들은 설명하고 따라하는 방법이 조기영어교육에 있어서 가장 효과적이라고 생각하고 있었다.
넷째, 교사들은 조기영어교육이 영어에 대한 학습자의 동기와 흥미유발에 큰 효과가 있는 것으로 응답했다.
위의 결과로부터, 다음을 제언하고자 한다.
첫째, 사설 교육기관의 조기영어교육이 중r姑등학교의 영어교육과 상호 유기성을 가지고 체계적인 학습이 이루어지도록 계획되고 시행되어야 한다.
둘째, 조기영어교육을 담당하는 교사들은 영어에 대한 전문적인 지식이 있어야 하며 학습자의 상황에 맞는 교수법을 선택하여 교육해야 하는 전문성이 요구된다.
셋째, 조기영어교육 담당교사에게 필요한 재교육을 실시해야 하고 재교육의 기회도 넓혀야 한다.
넷째, 조기영어교육을 받는 학습자들에게 적합한 교재를 개발해야 하며 CD-ROM과 같은 영어 교육에 효율적인 학습자료와 시설을 확충해야 한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study is to investigate the current state of early childhood English education in private institutions, to identify its problems and to suggest some desirable improvements of the programs. The questionnaire is made up of 59 items in five areas and 56 early childhood English teachers responded to the questionnaire.
The results are as follows:
First, most of the early childhood English teachers in private institutions were university graduates, but not many of the teachers majored in English and had an English teacher certificate.
Second, many of them were not trained as an English teacher and only a few teachers have the experience of studying or living in English-speaking countries.
Third, most of the teachers thought that the method of explanation and repetition is most effective in the early childhood English education.
Fourth, most of the teachers thought that the early childhood English education has an effect on children's interests and motivation in English.
The following are some suggestions from the above results:
First, the early childhood English education of private institutions should be connected with the English education of middle and high schools.
Second, the early childhood English teachers should have sound knowledge of English itself and have the ability to adapt a suitable English teaching method.
Third, it is necessary for the early childhood English teachers to have training and to get opportunities to study English education.
Fourth, it is necessary to develop suitable and effective teaching materials like CD-ROM and educational facilities.
