모듈화(Modularity) 개념을 적용한 금속 가구디자인 연구

국문 초록 (Abstract)

우리나라는 근대 사회에 들어서면서 역사상 가장 빠르게 발전하였다. 입식 문화와 함께 서구적인 사회를 받아들이면서 현대 생활은 빠른 속도로 변화하고, 그에 따른 공간의 형태로 상업 공간, 주거 공간, 문화 공간 등 다양한 공간이 생기면서 사람들이 추구하는 가구들이 변화해 가고 있다. 상업공간은 이제 앉아서 업무만 보는 공간이 아닌 사람들이 편하게 모여 앉아 회의 또는 친목도 다질 수 있는 공간이며, 주거 공간은 자신만의 개성을 살리고, 수납과 활용성이 좋은 가구, 장식 효과가 있는 가구 등을 진열하는 공간이며, 문화공간은 다양한 것을 배울 수 있는 공간이다. 본 논문은 세대 간, 계층 간, 서로 다른 생각과 생활 방식으로 다양하게 변화하고 있는 현재 사회 현상을 고려하고, 원하는 기능, 형태, 크기로 조립과 변형을 할 수 있는 모듈을 가구디자인에 적용하여 가구 조형의 새로운 방법을 실험하고 가구디자인에 있어 금속 가구디자인을 연구하는 것을 목적으로 진행되었다.
논문은 총 5장으로 구성되었고, 연구 주제인 ‘모듈’과 ‘금속 가구디자인’에 관한 이론적 연구와 해외 사례를 통한 자료조사 그리고 내용을 토대로 진행한 연구작품 분석으로 이루어져 있다.
1장 서론에서는 가구디자인 영역에 있어서 모듈적 요소와 적용의 필요성을 소개하며 본 연구의 배경 및 연구목적, 연구범위와 방법을 설명하였다.
2장은 이론적 고찰로 연구의 주제인 모듈의 개념과 등장 배경을 알아보고, 구조 및 특징을 살펴보았다. 표현 사례 분석에서는 모듈화된 작품을 중심으로 작가를 선정하고, 현대사회 속에서 모듈의 다양한 방법으로 표현되고 있는 것을 조사하고 모듈이 지니는 특성과 효과를 조사하였다.
3장에서는 연구자의 작품에 모듈의 재료로 사용할 ‘금속 가구디자인’에 대해 이해하고 적용하고자 한다. 또한, 금속 가구디자인에 대한 개념, 재료 특성의 파악과 사례를 분석하여 본 연구에 활용할 수 있는 방법을 분석하였다.
4장에서는 연구자의 작품을 분석하고 전개하였으며 작품 배경 및 방향에 관해 설명하고 아이디어 스케치, 모델링, 제작 과정 등을 구체화한 후 최종 결과물을 제시하였다.
마지막 5장에서는 연구를 통해 얻은 내용을 종합하여 최종 결론을 제시하고 연구 작품과 논문의 의의, 그리고 후속 연구를 위한 방향 및 제언으로 마무리하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

In modern society, Korea has been the most rapidly developed in history. Accepting the Western society and stand-up culture, the modern life has been quickly changed. After having diverse spaces such as commercial space, residential space, and cultural space, furnitures pursued by people are also changing. Commercial space is not just a space for sitting and working, but also a space for having meetings or promoting friendship by comfortably sitting around. Residential space is a space for displaying furnitures with great individuality, storage, utilization, and decorative effect. Cultural space is a space for learning many various things. The objective of this paper is to experiment a new method of furniture modeling and also to research the metal furniture design, by considering the current social phenomenon which is diversely changing into different ideas and lifestyles depending on each generation and class, and then applying the module that could be assembled/transformed into desired functions/forms/sizes to furniture design.
This paper is composed of total five Chapters, including the theoretical research on the research theme 'module' and 'metal furniture design', data research through foreign cases, and the analysis on the research work.
Chapter1 introduced the necessity to apply the module elements to the furniture design area, and also explained the background, objective, range, and methods of this study.
Chapter2, as a theoretical consideration, understood the concept, appearance background, structure, and characteristics of module. In the analysis of expression cases, it selected artists focusing on modularized works, researched diverse expressions of module in modern society, and also studied the characteristics and effects of module.
Chapter3 understood/applied the 'metal furniture design' which would be used as materials of module for the researcher's work. Also, analyzing the concept of metal furniture design, the characteristics of material, and its cases, the method to use it for this study was analyzed.
Chapter4 analyzed/developed the researcher's work, explained its background & direction, and then suggested the final product after materializing its idea sketch, modeling, and production process.
The last Chapter5 suggested the final conclusion by putting together the research contents, and then presented the significance of the research work & the paper, and the future direction & implications for follow-up researches.
