A pedestrian space imposes cultural value and creates a happy abundant street to a city environment, and becomes a general means that enables safe and pleasant life to city residents. However, indiscreet expansion of pedestrian environment only considering functional aspects installed in some cities is acting as one of the elements deteriorating the appearance and function of a city. Therefore, more pleasant futuristic city environment should be created by composing a pedestrian space considering not only the functional aspect but also the environmental and the aesthetic aspect.
Apart from this, cases planning pedestrian streets integrating advanced technologies to a pedestrian space are increasing. In case of Daejeon Metropolitan City, a pedestrian street linked with IT business and prospective business suitable for an advanced science technology city is to be planned. The plan is to construct a landmark through not only enhancing the walking environment but also improving the lighting plan by creating a next generating multimedia LED road.
This research was to grasp the problems of the conventional street environment based on Euneungjeongyee pedestrians’ street of Deajeon Metropolitan City and to propose a direction plan of a city and the construction environment suitable for multimedia environment.
Summarizing the conclusion of this research is as follows.
Firstly, the most important thing to focus on when creating a multimedia mall can be said to be the pedestrians using it. A pedestrian environment is one of the most basic elements composing the streets, and can be said to be a place where all cultures take place. The plan should be which a pedestrian can conveniently use the multimedia walking along the street, and a street should be designed which walking is not stopped with community created along with it.
Secondly, a construction is one of the most important elements composing a city environment. As a street and a city environment depend on the characteristic of a construction, a construction environment should be planned to create where its scale, materials and finishing should be consistent and harmonious with the streets.
Thirdly, benches, rubbish bins, street lights and switch boxescan be said as components of a street and one of small elements of a city environment. A city environment should be improved as such small elements are important public universal design elements determining a city environment.
Forthly, what is more important than planning and constructing a multimedia mall is the maintenance of it. Especially, maintenance has to be more important, as it is not simply an arcade construction but also an advanced facility of multimedia is integrated. Specific management plans should be established and maintenance plans should be sought through collaborations with the government and related residents.
Fifthly, as mentioned above, the mutual co-operation between the government and local residents is vital. In case of construction remodeling, it should be a harmonious remodeling with the surrounding environment by co-operating with the government and not just a sole work of the building owner, and an organic connection system should be maintained by government support for a building remodeling.
Composing a multimedia mall is not simply creating a space for pedestrians but it is also one of the methods linking the street environment and constructions of a city.
Therefore, creating a multimedia street through an arcade mall whichthe local culture and advanced technology integrated, would leap a step as another symbol of Deajeon City.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

최근들어 삶의 질의 향상과 정신적·문화적인 풍요에 대한 시민들의 요구가 증대되고 질적인 도시환경향상을 도모하고자 하는 사회적 추세로 인하여 보행공간에 대한 관심이 높아지고 있다. 또한 보행공간이 단순 보행만을 위한 공간이 아니라 보행공간에 여러 가지 요소를 가미함으로써 새로운 보행문화를 창출해 내고 있다. 보행공간에 작은 소공원, 공연장 등 녹지축을 연결하여 쾌적한 보행환경을 조성하고, 거리에 조형물 및 사진 등을 설치할 수 있는 공간을 조성함으로써 원래의 목적인 보행과 동시에 시각적인 즐거움을 얻을 수 있는 공간으로 재창출되고 있다.
특히 도심의 보행공간에 첨단기술을 접목한 멀티미디어형 보행자 도로를 계획하는 사례들이 증가하고 있으며, 대전광역시의 경우 첨단과학기술도시에 걸맞게 IT사업과 조명사업을 연계한 보행자 도로를 계획 중에 있다. 이를 통해 차세대 멀티미디어 LED 거리를 조성하여 보행환경 개선은 물론, 야관경관 매력향상을 통하여 랜드마크를 창출한다는 계획을 추진하고 있는 것이다.
그러나 현재 으능정이 거리의 경우에는 도로망, 도시시설물, 건물, 옥외광고물 등이 낙후되거나 무분별하게 설치되어 성공적인 멀티미디어 몰을 조성하기 위해서는 건축과 도시환경적인 정비가 필수적이다.
따라서 본 연구에서는 상부에 아케이드 몰 설치를 통해 멀티미디어 보행거리를 계획하고 있는 대전광역시 으능정이 보행자 거리를 중심으로 기존의 가로환경적 문제점을 파악하고, 멀티미디어 환경에 적합한 도시 및 건축환경의 계획방향을 제시하고자 한다.
본 연구의 순서로써 제1장 서론에 이어 2장에서는 관련이론 및 선행연구 검토로써 보행자 도로 및 멀티미디어 보행자 도로에 대한 정의와 보행환경개선을 위한 도시 및 건축제도에 대하여 살펴본다. 제3장에서는 국·내외의 아케이드 몰의 사례분석을 통하여 아케이드의 특성을 분석하고 아케이드 몰 조성을 통한 도시환경 개선 의의에 대하여 살펴본다. 제4장에서는 대전광역시 으능정이 거리의 도시 및 건축환경적 문제점을 파악하고 아케이드를 통한 도시환경 개선방향을 도출하며, 마지막으로 제5장에서는 본 연구의 결과를 종합하기로 한다.
본 연구를 통해 도출된 결론을 요약하면 다음과 같다.
첫째, 보행환경은 가로를 구성하는 가장 기본적인 요소 중 하나이며 모든 문화들이 이루어지는 장소라고 할 수 있다. 따라서 보행자가 가로를 보행하면서 멀티미디어를 쉽고 편리하고 이용할 수 있도록 해야 하며, 가로 설계시에는 보행이 단절되지 않고 커뮤니티를 조성할 수 있는 계획이 되어야 한다.
둘째, 건축물은 도시환경을 구성하는 가장 중요한 요소 중 하나이다. 건축물의 성격에 따라 가로환경은 물론이거니와 도시환경이 좌우됨으로 건축물의 규모, 재료, 마감재 등이 통일성 있고 가로와 조화될 수 있는 건축환경이 구현될 수 있도록 계획되어야 할 것이다.
셋째, 벤치, 휴지통, 가로등, 배전함 등은 작지만 가로의 구성물이자 도시환경의 중요한 구성요소 이다. 따라서 유니버셜 디자인을 적용한 시설의 디자인과 정비를 통해 도시환경을 개선해야 한다.
넷째, 멀티미디어 몰을 계획하고 건설하는 것도 중요하지만 더 중요한 것은 유지관리라고 할 수 있다. 특히 단순한 아케이드 건설 뿐 아니라 멀티미디어라는 첨단 장비가 결합되기 때문에 관리에 대한 구체적인 계획을 수립하고 정부 뿐 아니라 주변 상인들과의 협조를 통한 유지관리 방안이 모색되어야 할 것이다.
다섯째, 상기에서 언급했던 것과 같이 정부와 지역주민간의 상호협조가 필수적이다. 건축물 리모델링의 경우에는 건물주 단독이 아닌 정부와 협조하여 주변환경과 조화로운 리모델링이 되어야 하며, 건물 리모델링의 경우에는 정부차원에서의 지원을 통한 유기적인 연결체계를 유지하여야 한다.
