남북통일축구대회의 성사배경과 협의과정 = A Background and Consultation Process for South-North Reunification Soccer Game

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The Ministry of Sports established the South-North Sports Cooperation Program for active exchange with North Korea through sports based on the ‘7.7 Declaration’ of President Noh Tae-Woo. The Ministry of Sports suggested a friendly sports game between South and North as a part of exchange and North Korea accepted the suggestion to start the consultation for the South-North Reunification Soccer Game. The consultation for the South-North Reunification Soccer Game began at the South-North Sports Summit Talk in Beijing, China, and the Ministry of Sports had the policy to accept North Korea``s conditions for the details as much as possible to make the game happen. North and South agreed to hold the South-North Sports Talk through the South-North Sports Summit Talk in Beijing and secretly agreed during the Beijing Asian Games to hold the game in Pyeongyang on October 11, 1990. Later, North and South discussed the details through working meetings and meetings of correspondence officers until the game was finally held.
