초등학교 교사의 무용교과에 대한 지각

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 연구는 초등학교 교사들을 대상으로 교사들이 지각하고 있는 무용교육에 대한 가치와 중요도를 어떻게 지각하고 있는가를 규명함으로써 무용교육에 대한 정책수립과 교사교육에 필요한 기초자료를 제공하는데 목적이 있다. 연구대상은 서울, 경기지역에 위치한 45개 초등학교에 재직 중인 교사 총 841명이다. 초등학교 무용교육의 중요도를 확인하기 위해 선정된 비교대상 교과는 국어, 사회, 수학, 과학, 도덕, 실과, 영어, 체육, 무용, 음악, 미술 등 11개 교과로 세분하였다. 무용교육의 가치는 초등교육 분야에서 수행된 선행연구 결과를 기초로 신체적, 사회·심리적, 지적 영역으로 구분하고 영역별 평가문항을 결정하였다. 설정된 연구문제는 MANOVA, Friedman의 등위 차 검증과 Mann-Whitney의 U 검증방법을 적용하여 분석하였다. 유의수준(⍺)은 .05로 설정하였다. 분석결과 초등학교 교사들은 1) 무용교육에 대한 중요도를 매우 낮게 평가하고 있으며 2) 무용교육의 지적, 신체적, 사회·심리적 가치 중 지적 가치를 가장 높게 지각하고 있다. 3) 상대적으로 연령이 많고 무용이 교과과정에 표현활동으로 명시되지 않은 학년(1,2)을 담당하고 있는 여교사가 무용교과의 중요성과 무용교육의 신체적, 지적, 사회·심리적 가치를 높게 평가하고 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Teachers' perceptions about the value of dance in the school are determinants influencing the amount of time and resources allocated to dance education. The purpose of the study was to examine the value and importance that elementary school teachers attach to dance education relative to other subjects in the school curriculum. Understanding the value and importance toward dance education might provide underlying information necessary for teacher education and policy making for the dance education. The participants were 841 teachers of 45 elementary schools located in Seoul metropolitan area and Kyonggi province in Korea. The value of dance education was specified into three variables such as physical, socio-psychological, and intellectual on the basis of the previous research (ex. Landers, Alderman, & Rogers, 2003). The importance of dance education was evaluated by comparing with other subjects in the school curriculum. The statistical method such as MANOVA, Friedman, and Mann-Whitney U test were used and alpha level was set at .05. The conclusions drawn from the result are as follows. 1) elementary school teachers perceive the importance of dance education in a very low comparatively, comparing with other subjects. 2) teachers perceive that dance education is important to improve and develop the students' physical, socio-psychological, and intellectual behaviors. 3) teachers perceive intellectual value in a very high among the physical, socio-physical, and intellectual values. And 4) teachers who perceive highly the importance and value of dance education are more than 40 years of aged female teachers who do not teach the grades not clearly define the dance domain.
